Will I need to upgrade my spare carrier if I go up to a 35?

I've heard and seen great things with the teraflex carrier, is that the go to for everyone or is there a rival?

Yes, it is a good idea to install an aftermarket carrier. The extra weight bouncing around back there is hard on the hinges and sheetmetal.

Lots and lots of options. Personally I chose the OR-FAB tire carrier. It allows me to carry a highlift and two cans of fuel. I also liked the fact that I wasnt married to a particular rear bumper.

 

My 35's are on the way and I went with the Ace Pro Series rear bumper/carrier. It's a solid bumper/carrier and very well built, it exceeded my expectations

I currently have my 35 mounted on the stock carrier. Had to use a 1.25" wheel spacer so that it didn't hit the bumper. I tried those off-set brackets but they covered up my third brake light and some just fit shitty in my opinion. The wheel spacer worked perfect and kept everything visible. I also have the MBRP re-enforcement kit behind the OE carrier. So far it holds up well and I've beat it around pretty good. Will be adding the TeraFlex HD hinge though.

 

Yes. Definitely upgrade the tire carrier.

 

Depends on the tire width and the rim backspacing. Wider tires, stock rims - probably need a spacer. Wider tires, new rims with less backspace - should mount up fine, but may leave a gap. If there is a gap, get some tailgate bumpstops to keep the tire from moving side-to-side.

Or, go with a new carrier.

 

I have the teraflex bracket. It replaces the door hinge. Love it so far
