I say go for it. 44's are tougher to find at a price that makes it worth it than most people think. I'll be running the same setup.

I'm going to order gussets and sleeves this week. For only $140 for the set its a cheap insurance for the short term.

Just get the "C" gussets and run the axle! I have been running 37's for a year now and have had no problems. There are also plenty of other guys on here running 37's on the 30 as well! I think MK Jeep has been running 37's on his 30 for like 2 years.

Anyone who is running a stock D44 or D30 should sleeve and gusset it if the wheel it After 37s. Hell even after 35s. And for people who don't think d30 are he same then why the hell are the sleeves and gussets you buy from Evo or any other company the exact same size. They will fit both axles. Trade the dude. You will love them. But then again be carefully wheeling it. And that goes for you d44 guys too. Here's a pic or two of mine. Nothing except for the spring perches are factory. All custom built.
Beat me to it.

I have a D44 and am thinking about going with the PR44 as insurance to not worry about it off road.

What lift is everyone running with 37s?

I'm running 4" RC w/1.25" BL. I can't wait to get the 37's.

What a great thread! So to recap my understanding, you can run 37's on a stock D30 on the street and light trails. Upgrading to a 5:13 to 5:38 will of course bring the torque back into reasonable specs (mechanical advantage being what it is). Sleeves and gussets just about round it out. That sets me up for getting to the office or some pretty decent off-roading. How will those 37's fare on the Hwy, say, a 7 hr trip to go wheeling?

other parameters would be a 3.5" RK w/ Bilstein 5100's.

I'm honestly not worried about a locker in the front with my 37s but I have to say with my new wheel and tire combo I'm planning on running I'm starting to feel uneasy. Even tho I drive like a grandma off road. I guess with all that added weight I'm wondering if I should or shouldn't lock the front. I'm now in a position I can but not quite in the position to buy a d60 You know?... What do you think. And by the way. Wife says I HAVE to buy the wheels and tires. Lol. She loves them and has to have them so as far as waiting with the rim and tire combo and getting a pr60 is out of the question. I e tried it doesn't work. lol. What do you think. Thanks.
Detroit rear, lockright auto locker in front. That 15.50 tire is super wide, alot of contact area when turning and the extra weight of the rim/tire combo you want to run. It'll definately increase your chance of breaking/bending something.

I broke one axle, one ring gear (with 35s on that one) and a U joint so far but the housing is still in good shape.
Couple u-joints, ball joints, that is all.

Withstood 2 trips to moab (rocks)
Withstood 2 trips to Superlift ORVP (rocks)
Withstood several local off-road trips mostly muddy trails, alot of these were done on 35's then 37's.

I don't wheel every weekend though, so I think I abuse mine less than some on here.

Did you guys running 37's cut your pinch seams? Can I get some pictures I'm thinking I may need to.
