I would stick to 37's as I doubt you understand what it takes to run a 38" or 40" tire. Not trying to be mean but I see newbs all the time asking this question thinking they can just throw on a tire bigger then 37"x12.5"

So you've heard from some heavy hitters here who actually run the big tires and use them, but I'll feed into the majority of the people who are on the forums- 40's, why not? People run 40's on a d30 all the time. Sure, you'll need some reinforcement but damn does it ever look badass driving around town and the occasional fire road.

Who are all these people running 40's on a dana 30? To date I have seen 1 person do it. I would say even on the rubi 44 I have only seen a handful of people running 40's and they typically move up to a pro rock then 60.

Im scared of 37's on my 44. Ive broke enough on 35's. People say once you have 35s youll want 37s, i disagree i like the challenge and know id break more. I MAY go to 37s but so far im leaning towards not. Im guessing most of those people dont wheel to hard or every weekend that say 37s are no problem at all. Ive also gone everywhere my buddies on 37s have gone. IMO if your running 40s and offroading your concern should be body damage not rimsize as your rig should be built for it and you should need them for what you do. Otherwise no point. But what do i know i have a barbie jeep on 35s.

As for karls response i think hes being sarcastic.


To op: Just noticed it looks like you have a 2 door, with no stretch your distance between tires will be very interesting. Ive never ran it but id assume its not real stable when climbing.

this forum is looks over function about 90% of the time. There's got to be at least 100 threads about fitting 35's on 20's with no lift.
