Default 6in. Lift

I am about to buy a 6 in. Suspension lift kit for my 2008 jeep wrangler jk. I will also be purchasing 37" tires. Flat fenders. Steering stabilizer. Front/rear driveshaft. Money is not an issue right now so please only helpful comments. All will be greatly appreciated. What else would I need for this purchase?

What else you will need depends on which components ship with the lift.

If you haven't found the faq's yet, that would be a good place to start. Look at the one showing recommended components for a 4" lift, that should point you in the right direction for a 6".

And are you sure you want 6 inches? People are running 37's on 2.5" lifts with flats. You're looking at a lot of open wheel well space. JK's just don't need huge lifts to fit big tires.

What I was looking at was the skyjacker 6" long arm kit. It comes with
- front/rear coil springs
- front/rear track bar brackets
- front/rear lower control arms
- front/rear upper control arms
- front/rear bumpstops
- front rear shocks

And do you think I should go down to maybe a 5"? With all these components.

I think your heading the right direction with your component list. I don't want to pick or sound bad but I have not heard good things about skyjacker's lifts. Being you are planning on a 6" lift, personally I would go with a high quality kit for better function and performance. You may want to talk with some people on the forum and find out who has it and if they are happy with it.
Just a suggestion, please keep us all posted on how it is going.

6" is needlessly high, IMO. If that's what you wanna do, that's cool. But you're gonna have one of those "Jeeps on stilts" that make the tires, even 37's, look undersized. And a 6-incher can introduce all sorts of problems down the road, not to mention the initial cost of new ds, sleeve and gusset job on the front axle, etc.

If it were my money (which it's not), I'd go 4", tops.

Agree. It would be a great setup for 40's though....

My Jeep has a 3.5" lift kit on it....That thing is unstoppable!

I have been researching my lift for 3 months and am just now about to purchase. I dont have experience with skyjacker, but all I hear is negative and you can always find them for sale for people wanting a different brand. Of everything I have heard (again all word of mouth) if your looking for that much lift, and a complete kit, you cant beat something like Teraflex, Rock Krawler . I will be grabbing one of those in the next month.

Also I dont know if you know, but with that much lift you will have to replace your drive shaft. With that much tire you should re-gear, and weld on gussets to your axle. All of this is pretty much the minimum to run that kind of set up, even on road.

You may also want to look at front and rear adjustable track bars. I think your list only mentioned brackets. I know when I did my RK 3.5 I have a front double adjustable but also had a JKS front trackbar brace welded on as was recommended by my shop and have also heard its a week spot on the JK. Good luck with your build.
