I have the Add A Trunk and really like it. It certainly isnt the most secure product out there but neither is a soft top Jeep. The instructions say it can hold 80 pounds and I believe it. It looks nice with the diamond plate style top. It is very easy to remove without any tools. I do not regret this purchase on bit.

I have the add-a-trunk and I think it's the biggest POS MOPAR ever put their name on.

It isn't remotely weather resistant, it's barely secure, it's flimsy, and it requires drilling into your sheet metal for no good reason whatsoever.

Mine bowed under the weight of the soft top resting on it while in the down position. Like MOPAR couldn't figure out people might want to lower their softtops and maybe design it a bit differently...

Mine's in the back yard shed collecting dust and cobwebs until I remember to take it to the landfill...

I can't express enough what a big hunk of crap it is.

i think the mopar one is plastic or something. definitely go with the Bestop Instatrunk if you go this route. i've had mine for about 9 months or so and it's probably the best thing i've bought yet. it made of metal, requires no drilling, is somewhat weather proof, and is pretty secure. i keep guns, laptops, etc locked in mine because it's about as secure as a car trunk (which means it's only as secure as the lock on the tailgate)

I thought I read somewhere that the MOPAR add-a-trunk doesn't work/fit with the Infinity subwoofer. Is this true?

Also, does the Bestop Instatrunk fit with the subwoofer?

Thanks

I agree whole-heartedly with Saharicon, the MOPAR add-a-trunk is a POS. I ordered one for my 2-door, and it was bulky, flimsy, and took up too much valuable space in the already too small 2-door storage area. I promptly returned mine.

If you want something that is definately secure with the top off go with the tuffy security drawer, I have and love it. Definately worth the money. Holds up to 300lbs in the drawer and was easy to install, bolts in, no drilling.

I cannot believe how passionate people are about hating the Add A Trunk. So what if it isnt weather proof. Has anyone claimed it is? The Jeep itself isnt waterproof with the top down. Is it made of plastic, yes. Who cares? It does waht it is supposed to do, keeps things somewhat safe and out of sight out of mind. Dont get me wrong, the Tuffy drawer is a great piece of equipment but it is not for everyone. I need to remove my Add A Trunk fairly often and it comes out very easily. So I had to drill 4 holes into the sheetmetal. You cant see the holes when the truck is removed because the carpet covers them.

The main drawback I see is you cant use it with the subwoofer, I dont have a sub so not an issue with me.

And yes I would and do put valuables in it. My wife puts her pocketbook in it and doesnt even lock the tailgate, as I said before, out of sight out of mind.
