Add a trunk
I agree Jeff, the add a trunk is the way to go if you want something that you can easily take out and it also does a good job hiding valuables. I dont get how some make a big deal about drilling 4 little holes either.
I cannot believe how passionate people are about hating the Add A Trunk. So what if it isnt weather proof. Has anyone claimed it is? The Jeep itself isnt waterproof with the top down. Is it made of plastic, yes. Who cares? It does waht it is supposed to do, keeps things somewhat safe and out of sight out of mind. Dont get me wrong, the Tuffy drawer is a great piece of equipment but it is not for everyone. I need to remove my Add A Trunk fairly often and it comes out very easily. So I had to drill 4 holes into the sheetmetal. You cant see the holes when the truck is removed because the carpet covers them.
The main drawback I see is you cant use it with the subwoofer, I dont have a sub so not an issue with me.
And yes I would and do put valuables in it. My wife puts her pocketbook in it and doesnt even lock the tailgate, as I said before, out of sight out of mind.

we're bashing it because it's crap and do not recommend it to unknowing jeepers. what's the point of getting a POS hunk of plastic from Mopar, that you have to drill to install, isn't weatherproof, and doesn't work with the subwoofer???? i might as well drill some holes and mount my lego box in the back....
Bestop Instatrunk:
1) No drilling required
2) 16-gauge steel
3) Weatherproof
4) Works with subwoofer
5) COSTS THE EXACT SAME AS THE POS MOPAR VERSION

I wanna see the leg box in back
tkob1060,
Thanks for the pics. I have a couple questions. Is there a metal plate between the rear seats and the box that is not in your picture? I realize that the drawer goes in there, but if you leave the drawer out is there just a big open hole when you put the seats down?
Does the drawer easily come off the slides for easier acesses to the cubby? Would you mind taking a pic of how far you can open the cubby cover with the drawer on?
This would help me make up my mind on this purchase. Thanks!

I installed the Bestop Instatrunk today. I just love it. Easy to install. It is tougher than I thought as well as more weatherproof than I imagined it to be. I purchased it to store my laptop, camera, etc and for use on small shopping trips. If you want to make sure an Army can't get into the trunk, this product (as with any?) may not do the trick, but for my use it's perfect.

i think the mopar one is plastic or something. definitely go with the Bestop Instatrunk if you go this route. i've had mine for about 9 months or so and it's probably the best thing i've bought yet. it made of metal, requires no drilling, is somewhat weather proof, and is pretty secure. i keep guns, laptops, etc locked in mine because it's about as secure as a car trunk (which means it's only as secure as the lock on the tailgate)
I have been considering this as a storage option, but i need to run a carseat for at least the next several years. Is there any access to attach the rear tether to the latch system on the back of the seat?
