Advice wanted: Preparing for more hardcore rock crawling

I ran in the second group at the JJUSA in Big Bear last year and had zero issues. I've done some other moderate trails in my area (Sierra Nevadas) and will do more next spring prior to the Rubicon run. I'm not a newbie, but I'm a long way from as experienced as many of you. I'm a true crawler, where I don't rush the obstacles and try to never "bounce". Agreed, the spotters on the JJUSA are great and usually keep you out of trouble. I had no idea people actually carried axles and drive shafts with them on trips like this, unless you are running in the first group and expect to tackle the hardest lines. I'm sure I'll be stuck in the second, or maybe even the third group from what I have heard.

He knows his shit :O sorry i cant argue against his knowledge and experience. Least i can do is agree with the things ive seen or learned and try and help a little to. Its not like i just agree no matter what he says. If i disagree or want to know more i also ask. Again sorry if i "over quote" to many people on here just repeat what they read theres only a few people i really believe so sorry if i back them.

Hey Dgriz,
We're a sponsor of JJUSA and that's one of the runs we do every year. You're going to love it! I would rate that outing as 9 on a 10 point scale... only because there are no 10s. The trail is a challenge but every year JJUSA has good folks spotting. The Food is great, the People are great, and you can't find a prettier place to camp than the Sierras.
Please get in touch with me late July and I'll get you some swag for the trip.
