I'm really unimpressed now. I dodged a dog at 35mph and no wheels left the ground, I think. Just had to pull half my seat cover outta my ass.

i know for a fact that the 5100 are different then others. i had to wait 6 weeks for my lift to come off back order from aev. it was because they where waiting on the shocks from blistein . they gave me the number to check with them, they said they where specific to aev.

1 picture is not enough. Here are some more.

AEV 4.5" kit FWIW:

I do not have the AEV kit but I have talked with both installers and owners of the kit and they've got nothing but good things to say about it.

All kits have pros and cons. Is the AEV a good kit? There is no doubt about it. Do you need to use those cam bolts? No. Is the information in this thread about cam bolts opinion based? Yes.

so you all know, i have reopend this thread. while it is starting to spin into the realm of stupidness like it always does, i haven't seen any trolling as of yet and so for now, open it will stay.

this is a really nice kit and for your purposes, one that i think you will like a lot. as mentioned several times in this thread, it does come with cam bolts and i would highly recommend that you NOT install them but rather, pick up a set of adjustable lower control arms and install them instead.

for the record, i have personally driven and/or have ridden in just about every lift kit made to day and can tell you that while the aev kit handles very well, it does have a firm ride and maybe a little bit too firm for my taste. of course, this firm ride is what allows it to behave like a sports care but on the trail, i found it the ride to be exhausting. of course, that's just me and some people may prefer this.

as far as roll center goes, yes, this kit is designed well and it probably has done one of the best jobs of addressing roll center but, contrary to what some would have you believe, this is not to say that other kits don't address roll center as well. AND, i might add, the roll center improvements that this kit does have over stock is very minute. granted, this improvement was made on a jk that has been lifted. having said all that, if driving your jk like a sports car by day and have a decent off road vehicle by the weekends is your goal, i think you'll be quite satisfied with this kit. of course, for the price, i think you will find that there are a lot of other good options out there that are worth looking into that will give you what you are looking for and maybe even more.

The rebound and compression damping are the only two things that can be adjusted for each company, but they can be.
there is more to ride quality than shocks. fact of the matter is, your coils will be responsible for the majority of ride comfort and of the two lifts, i would have to agree with you that the aev coils are more comfortable than the re coils. but, when it comes to running fast down a dirt road or hitting bumps hard, i don't know if i can really tell the difference - of course, that's where you feel teh quality of shocks the most.

Just because the AEV kit may have cam bolts there is no way you can say looking at their products that they cheap out when it comes to R&D they cheap out.
plain and simple, while cam bolts work, they are an inexpensive fix and one most companies offers to help keep the cost of their kits down.

now, before all the fanboys come out of the woodwork all butthurt and ready to start trolling again, please read what i have said carefully and note that I AM SAYING THIS IS A GOOD KIT AND ONE THAT THE OP WILL MOST LIKELY ENJOY.
