Don't forget that those things probably create a significant amount of wind drag, especially at higher speeds. This probably negates a good bit, if not all, of the benefits you get from the cooler air.

I also have wondered what effect the snorkle would have on drag.

My AEV hood is freshly painted and waiting in my garage for me to get home. I am in Europe so I just bought a "Diesel Only" foam rubber thing that mounts to the factory air box and will keep the intake from drawing air from anywhere except through the AEV screen. SHOULD be a true cold air intake as soon as I get home so I will post some pics.

If cold air is so important why do I always get better mpg on warm days than I do on cold days? I always get better mpg in the summer than I do in the winter( I have synthetic oil in the trans, differentials and motor). If cold air is so important they should run a duct from the A/C to the airbox.

Because of the different blends of fuel. Summer fuel normally does get better fuel mileage than winter blends.

Wrong answer. I know that there is a differance in summer and winter blends. I get the same results if I drive a Jeep or other vehicles.

Yep....any vehicle gets better mileage on summer blend.

And an AC vent to the airbox??? Kinda defeats the purpose if anyone was dumb enough to do it b/c the AC pulls more power and reduces fuel economy as well.

Just trust us on this one cold air MAKES A DIFFERENCE
