annoying squeak
Neoprene bushings - notorious for squeaking in all applications. Bet they were good for a while then the squeaks set in. Go with rubber and get rid of the noise. Only possible way to rid the squeaking is with silicone grease but looks like you have greased it with dinosaur oil products and you should have grease zerks installed. I like the - change to rubber option but it is your vehicle and this is only my opinion.
My R8 handles and my Jeep goes offroad. Neither does both intentionally anyways!!

replaced both upper and lower bushings on the rear right shock, still squeaking like a banshee........ did not notice any issues with the welds on the door. But the squeak is present when I have the back door open and lift it up and down. It does not squeak when I rock the Jeep by standing on the side rails/neither back and forth or up and down. Thoughts? Might go deaf from having the radio on so loud (and I spent 20 years in the Air Force on the flight line) lol
What do the welds inside the tailgate look like? You don't have a "big" tire, but anything over a compact spare for a smart car is too big for the jeep. I wonder if you've got spot welds cracking.
Had to read this thread all the way from the beginning again. My impression is the squeak is STILL coming from the right rear shock even though you've now replaced both the upper and lower bushings in the shock. I don't get the impression you think the noise is coming from the tailgate at all. Is that correct? If so, have you consider replacing shocks and just being done with that? Based on the white bodies, I'm guessing maybe that is a Pro Comp shock? Not talking a great shock to start with. If you think there's any shot it's something else I wouldn't throw money at shocks, but if you are completely certain it's the shock, maybe it's time to move on from em.
Hey i have one thing in mind if you have steel bumpers or aftermarket bumpers just check if the rear bumper is making contact with the body of the jeep and causing a squeak

Skyjacker Nitro 8000's, replaced them about 3-4 months ago (thought that would fix the squeak)....... still squeaks........... annoyingly so......... gonna play with the tailgate after work/vote..... I lubed the hinges and tightened everything up but did not remove the spare. Also looked for and did not see any welding issues. Will see after the spare is off.....

The spot welds you're looking for are on the inside of the gate, the little dimples all over. Some are under the plastic strip and others are up and down the side. My concern is the sheet metal slowly tearing.
