I meant how do you secure it as far as locking it when the roof is off. It doesn't look like it's locked in. Looks very secure...but is it locked to prevent theft?

I'm thinking of mounting a piece of steel here (see below) and bolting to to the top of the bed rails. I'm thinking it might provide a good secure mounting point for jack.

It'll add some extra weight, but it would keep my jack inside, and should be solid. Any thoughts?

No lock on mine yet.......................
Great idea you have , I was going to mount bolts up through both fender wells pointing up & lay it accross then bolt it down, that way I could secured it with a lock. It would have needed moved everytime I had to load or unload things in the back so I put high & out of the road. I'll be looking at locking system today, I'll definitely figure someway to lock it and thanks for the spark up my butt to get me moving in that direction,

Dang, you guys are pirating my idea..!! I was planning on cutting a peice of black diamond plate to fit over the back and fasten to the hard top slots.. Go all the way up to the back seats etc. and to the tailgate. That would look cool and deter theifs..!! BUT.. my machinest friend who would do that for me..(Make the jig) is ultra busy and can't get to it right now.. So if someone else does one.. I would want to buy one...!!!

Well, finally got my jack mounted.

I'm gonna pull it back out and powder coat it. Went offroad with it, rocks and inclines, no movement at all--very solid. It's 3/4" unistrut, held together with grade 8 hardware. Four, grade 8, 3/8" bolts hold it to the bed rails.

If you can weld, I bet you could make something even more solid than I put together.

The "diamond" patter you see in the pic above is just the top of the MOPAR trunk--it's just diamond plate patterend high impact plastic. I like your idea of a diamond plate bed cover though.

i have mine mounted on the front..very easy to get to, you have to remember that you have to get it out and put it back sometimes being off camber...not fun if you have to go through a bunch of crap to get to it..

Yes, the trunk is reasonably secure--it's the MOPAR trunk...I paid about $189 or so from a dealer connection I have. I think they run maybe about $210 list?

I've love mine. It's pretty easy to remove if you need the cargo space also. Here's the part number info:
82210313 add a trunk 211.60 (from the MOPAR website)

As for removing the jack when in need and off-camber...I can get it out from the back seat, or the rear of the vehicle. I'm hoping I won't need it for real any time soon--but better to be prepared. It's sits up above the trunk...where I store all my crap I could always unzip the side window and pull it out that way if I was leaned over tight. I figured by mounting it inside, it wouldn't get all cover with road/trail mud and gunk, and it'll be shiny (dusty) and relatively clean when I need it.
