Yeah, that is some setup he's got there...

I just had 5.13's installed; and the ARB Diff Covers. They both lock and unlock just fine. However something is amiss on the rear as when disengaging the locker the locker disengages but the light does't go out but blinks. It's very obvious that the locker has unlocked but the light keeps on blinking. If you hit the switch to lock the rear it locks and the light lights up and doesn't blink.

The shop that installed everything has been trying to find out what is going on. A few people told them that the computer may need to be re-flashed.

I'll pass this on to them and have them contact ARB on Monday.

I posted a thread the other day and there is plenty of Rubicon's running ARB diff covers without any problem. Also the only customers that are having problems just had there ring and pinion changed and the solenoid for the locker has been broken.

The solenoid is not supposed to move. If the solenoid is in the proper place it will not be a problem. If the locker is installed wrong or the bearing that the solenoid rides on seizes because of all the gear shavings it makes the solenoid spin and brake off.

We have plenty of experience regarding this issue and I can honestly say it is not the Cover. But with some installers around the country the Cover is the first thing they want to blame without investigating The real problem and then they call ARB demanding them to pay for a new locker.

Nobody has been "had" Sit tight and this will be resolved.

David
I might also suggest contacting ARB directly, if you have this problem, as I am sure they are willing to assist if possible.

I spoke with ARB and David at Northridge. They both told me that the ARBs are just fine. It is the installers that are doing things incorrectly.

Has there been any issues with any other differential covers? For instance Solid or Riddle? You would think that there would be issues with all manufactures if this was the case? I have the ARB covers that I haven't had installed yet, so would like to know while I am still able to return.

Mine work great and I've had them on a while. Never an issue for me. As for the blinking light, for lockers, mine have done that off and on (with stock and ARB) usually once I drive a bit it goes off. I haven't swapped gears yet ,though...mega expensive for the good shop to do it so I'm saving.

Default ARB Diff Cover Broke my locker

I had my ARB Diff Covers installed before heading to Moab in May. First trail i ran (Cliffhanger), front lockers were not working. Took JK into local shop, they pulled the diff cover and found my actuator dangling on the two wires. Cost me a new front locker and 5 days (ordering parts, wrong locker sent, etc). PITA!

First trip after the ARB diff covers for me ended in the front locker seizing up and the jeep sitting in the shop for 3 weeks. New locker is installed (under warranty) and no problems yet. This is the first time I heard that it might be the covers. I don't think its the covers though

I repeat my question. Has anyone had problems after installing any other aftermarket differential covers? There must have been some troubles with other covers if it is not an ARB problem?

I just re-tried mine this morning - just in case these problems were long-term - and I didn't have any problems.

I placed the Jeep in 4-Lo. I came to a complete stop. I pressed the "Axle Lock" rocker switch "down" twice to activate both lockers. The rear engaged immediately, but the light for the front locker started blinking. I immediately moved forward very slowly and the front engaged about a second later. The gears were probably not aligned properly and didn't allow the locker to engage in that position. By moving forward a little, the gears aligned and the locker immediately engaged. I moved forward a little more and then pressed the "Axle Lock" rocker switch "up" and both lockers disengaged immediately and the lights turned off without blinking once. Perfect.

I have a similar issue with the electronic sway bar disconnect. If the Jeep is not perfectly level, the sway bar will not disconnect immediately. All you have to do is drive forward a little, or rock the Jeep side to side slowly, to make the sway bar mechanism align and disengage. Re-engaging the sway bar is a similar process.

Is it possible that some people are at a complete stop when pressing the "Axle Lock" rocker switch, the gears may not be aligned properly, then the light blinks and they immediately assume that the locker is not engaging and it's broken? I can't imagine that's the case with our more experienced Jeepers, but it may be possbile for some with less experience with lockers.

Yes we have seen this problem with stock covers.
