Default Aussie Locker

Let's here from the guys that have a Aussie locker, the good and the bad. I'll be regearing this spring and would like to put a Aussie locker in the front. My Jeep is a DD and we don't get a lot of snow or ice here in TN. I'm looking for better off road performance that will not affect the Jeeps on road performance. I'm trying to do the gears and locker for under $1000 not including labor. I've narrowed my decision down to the Aussie or the True Trac.

I have an aussie in the front of my DD and love it! I does click and clunk a little if you are at full turn, but other than that it is completely transparent. The off road performance is amazing and it has never failed me yet.

The only bad thing is that it puts some extra stress on your already venerable D30 front axles and U-joints. If your careful with the angles and the skinny pedal you should be fine.

Like CA-JK said, you will notice the Aussie locker differentiating (clunking) when making slow turns on hard pavement. Other than that you won't even notice it's there. The Aussie locker will give you much better off-road traction than the True Trac LSD but the True Trac is more street and icy road friendly.

I have an aussie locker that is sadly sitting in the box since I bought it 3 months ago, wish i had time to install it, but I am thinking of regearing and I am going to sleev while I am at it so I guess it will just wait.

Do you notice it clicking on the street in corners or just in parking lots at slow speeds. I really like how the Aussie works in 4wd. I'm just really concerned about click and clunk while in 2wd on the street. I'm not totally sold on the TrueTrac's offroad performance either, especially with 35's.
