Aussie Locker
The TJ and JK Aussie lockers are identical. I've talked with David Johnson of Northridge 4X4 AND Aussie about this. The only difference is in the washers. You can get just the washers if that's all you need. I have the earlier TJ version and that's what I did. Still have not gotten around to installin it yet, but I'm confident it'll be fine.
I've been running and Aussie and had the ka-chunk noise at first.
Bill from Aussie personally oversaw the teardown of my front diff to find out what went wrong, and even supplied a brand new locker in case there was a defect.
The installed locker was still as flawless as when it was first put in, but they noticed something about the spider-gear pin.
Ryan from Blue Dog Jeep (the guy doing the actual install) had a spare D30 pin and swapped it out and no more ka-chunk.
So it appears, in my case at least, that the problem wasn't the Aussie, but rather a stock Chrysler part.
And i didn't have to pay a cent to have them check out the front diff. Aussie treated me and my Jeep right.

I put an Aussie in my JK last May. It's great offroad, a big differance compared to stock. I went to Moab last year and it was a huge differance compared to the year before. It does ka-chunk on tight pavement corners (stay away from the mall). My JK was a November 06 build, the blue thrust washers wouldn't fit so I called Aussie tech and while waiting for a return call tried the stock thrust washers. The stock washers fit and all the clearances were within Aussie specs. The tech called and we talked about it. They figured there was a change made in the diffs somewhere in the build and thats why mine works with the stock thrust washers. He said if the clearances were good run it, and it hasnt been a problem 18,000km later. The only problem is I waited a year for a JK specific Aussie Locker and paid $50 dollars more for a set of blue anodized washers that I didn't need. Aside from following muddy ruts and not being able to steer out of them its a goog upgrade for the price. It hasn't given me real grief this winter but I don't use 4 wheel drive on the highway. There was a couple of good threads on Aussie Locker last year.
Good luck with it.
Good luck with it.
I have an Aussie in my front end. "09 JK X 2 door AT. It works well off-road in 4WD. I dont have any problems on road in 2WD except when making the tight turns. I go real slow because it binds and clunks and it does not sound or feel good. I have a 4 inch lift and 35's". When I don't make a tight turn the ratchet click of it releasing is minute and don't mind that at all because it is bearly noticable.
I wish the ON ROAD tight turn issue was not there but an OX is $700 more.

This pretty much mirrors my experience. Taking it slow to make tight turns it doesn't clunk or ratchet as bad. If you pull into a spot or drive around a parking lot like an asshole, it'll be louder and you may feel the front end hop a bit. In 4wd, it kicks ass. And to clarify the tight turn where it makes noise is like all the way in either direction, anything less and its just about invisible. I love mine
