Default Any Downside to the Aussie Locker?

I am looking at adding a front locker when I regear. Are there any downsides to the Aussie? I am not a hard core rock crawler. The trails I ride have small to medium loose rocks and they are steep.

....so.... how did the Aussie do wheeling it?? how was camp jeep? I've reading the Aussie site and am sold on them! my good friend has one in the rear of his yota and he swears by them.. for the price you can't beat them. I am going to order one for the front, and either wait until they have one for the rear or go with something similiar....

Aussie Locker in my D30 at CampJeep worked superbly,...climbs like a Spider. Next time I'll pick the difficult trails but had a blast on the intermediate, & they had a few great obstacles to try this Aussie out. Disconnected & the Aussie made all these steep climbs & the "Z" ditch in short order. Went through the water pit at the playground area and that concerned me, but again, climbed right up outta there no problem at all.

Snow and ice driving takes a little inteligence, you need to slow down.
Are you sure about auto lockers being locked all the time?
I thought that they lock when a speed differentiation between the two axleshafts occurs, i.e. under load, one tire starts to slip, locker kicks in.
They do ratchet around corners to prevent tire scrub.
Maybe you mean a light partial lock all the time?
If your auto locker is locked all the time, doesn't that defeat the "auto" portion of the description?

we call it a cage or carrier same thing . the limited slip can't accept a locker so we put in a tj cageand we had to drill out the bolt holes for the crown since the bolts of the jk are bigger than the tj. if you do this you need the shims for the cage that you won't get when you buy a new one because if you install the locker without the shims the pins of the locker will shear

So he took out the JK's carrier and put in a carrier from a TJ? and that is all you need to get the lockers for a TJ to work? I am going to order an Aussie front locker today, and really want a rear one too, but I emailed Aussie today and they said the JK is different and the TJ locker won't fit the D44. but if a TJ carrier does fit, then the aussie locker should too right? I thought it was the splines that made it not work?
