Axle Seals
Are axle seals a recommended modification or something you only need if you plan on fording deep water/mud bogging? I'm probably not looking at doing either of those activities but the alloyusa or superior seals do look like good products. Would these work with the JE Reel axle upgrade?

Ditto....what doc said. You are talking about two totally different products. You don't want to "upgrade" axle seals and like Renegade said, the JE Reel's are driveshafts. For the non-educated, driveshafts are the tubes that run from the transfer case to the pumpkin (houses the gears, lockers, etc) on the axle, the axles are the splined shafts inside the axle tubes that run from the pumpkin the the wheels. The axle seals are the seals at the end of the axle tubes that keep fulid from leaking out of the axle housing. Is that stated simple enough?
Really though,.........is this a joke?
unless he is talking about putting seals at the "ends" of the front axle ( they do offer this as an after market) to keep crud out but it s a kinda moot point seeing as you already have seals at the pumpkin.
My bad, I should have added more detail. I'm talking about the front axle shaft. Most of the aftermarket seals are for that connection point. I am looking at the complete JE Reel axle shaft upgrade as well as the cv joints. I am not sure if the JE Reel axle shaft upgrade would even require this seal so I don't want to buy something for my as-is configuration and then bench box it later on.
I keep reading how the stock axle shaft seals allow too much crud into the driveline and can cause major problems when fording/mudding. I'm not planning on mudding but I am looking at taking the Jeep to Moab while I'm on leave in June. I don't want to trash my driveline while I'm out there so I'm just trying to get a bead on the must-do items to keep everything together and problem free.

You're not paying attention... Unless you guys in Bagdad have some inside info that we don't have here in the States, the JE Reel products are DRIVESHAFTS; not axleshafts. No one has front axle shaft upgrades on the market yet.
