Subtract the price of the stock BJ's and inner alloys. And you can subract another 180 if you want the regular housing instead of the unlimited.

The setup listed above is right around $4400 shipped to your door. (or that's what it was shipped to a local shop, anyway. I guess shipping and taxes will vary)

Yes..You should be all set then. Its real easy for us to get carried away.
Heres the regular run down of axels decisions running through my head

Spend a grand or more building my factory Dana 44?....Or, at that point, why not just save my pennies for a PR 44?....But, at that point, I might as well save for a f'n 60.

If $$$ truely is not an issue for you, dont put a dime into your Dana 30. If your doing moderate trails often....I would look into a Pro-rock or at least upgrading to factory 44

I've been going through this angst for the past several months now. I've read the posts where people say it's a waste of money to build up the D30. "Why not just save a few pennies more and do it right?" But, it's not a few pennies more. Depending on what you chose to do, it's more like a couple thousand dollars more--easily double the price of building up the D30 axle upgraded with a modest amount of goodies. The other option, a take-off Rubi axle--just didn't make sense to me: I wouldn't know what the original owner did to that axle, and I'd still have to do lots of the same work to that axle I had planned for the D30. After staring at $5K price quotes for Prorock axles, I decided to spend that 5K on my D30, and throw in gears and new tires and e-lockers. Maybe a year from now I'll be back hanging my head low because I busted up my D30, but that's the the way life is: You pays your money and you takes your chances.

I will say that if I was into really hardcore rock crawling (I'm more into overlanding and mild rocks), I'd say the D44 or even D60 made sense, and spending money on the D30 was truly a waste. But, I think some folks are answering that question assuming that everyone is out there driving their rig like WOL. I think a great many of us aren't.

30sp alloy inners, ARB or Detroit (or locker of your choice), gears of your choice, factory bj's, thicker tubes and caster/pinion correction built in.
You will re-use your stock 32sp outers, brakes, knuckles.

RCV's and ProSteers would add a grand.
And then there is the option of D60 outers which gets you manual hubs!!
So can you initially set up a PR44 without a locker and add it later or does the PR44 require one to drive?
I feel like I read somewhere that a d30 switching to a PR44 needed a new carrier. Is that true?
Other than a possible locker upgrade, are the axle shafts the only thing that would need to be upgraded from a d30 to complete the PR44?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Thats only if you are keeping internals.

If you are buying all new ring and pinion and lockers from Dynatrac, the locker essentially is the carrier.

A new gear set and locker for the rear is completely up to the purchaser. You have to at least get matching gear ratios, of course.

Thanks so much,
If this is the case, I'd go D60 F\R and don't look back.
