The thing about ball joints is, they won't always throw the alignment out when sitting still. Sometimes they will; it depends on what component in the joint is worn, and in what direction the wear is.
Bad ball joints will allow movement in the knuckles when the vehicle is traveling over irregularities on the road. In that case, the tires will not be tracking correctly while in motion.

That's why aligning your vehicle with bad ball joints is a waste of time and money.

As far as one place saying the joints are good, and another saying they are bad, the truth is, probably neither one actually measured the play in each joint.

is there any other company out there then dynatracs that make them...

crown and raybestos makes ball joints too but, NOTHING out there is made as beefy as the dynatrac prosteers.
