i thought my ball joints were bad as well.. they were moving slightly when u put pressure on the bottom of the tire (using a pry bar) when its jacked up. however, when i took it to the dealer they said that they were prefectly fine. i thought that they might be saying this bc they dont want to do the warranty work so i went to another dealer and they said the same thing...

Quick update, i just talked to the service manager at the local shop and he has sent " an official communication" to Chrysler. In a nut shell this is the second time BOTH sides, UPPER AND LOWER have failed in 15,000 miles, second set only lasted 5,000 LOL. But he asked Chrysler how he is to proceed and handle this. He wants to know if Chrysler will recognize this problem. He also follows these forums and has read alot of consumer complaints about them. He tells me it may take up to 2 weeks to hear back from them. I didnt expect that, and thanked him greatfully. Lets hope Warranty will be approved. We did talk OFF THE RECORD as he does sell Jeep JK's with more lift and bigger tires. And we awill look very hard at the bad ones when removed to try and figure out why they went bad, and maybe eliminate that reason, or reasons. However I am the proverbally 1% Jeep owner who uses mine. The others that he sold DO NOT GO OFFROAD So he is working with me to solve this dilema. We both looked for heavy duty replacements but none to be found yet, just OME so far

Thanks for the update and please keep us posted. Like you mine gets used and most of it's mileage is off-road (it's not a DD).

You've got 33's which shouldn't cause as much stress as 35's and 37's. I wonder if it's possible to modify the OE ball joints to be greasable? Maybe I'll call Moog and see if they have plans to release a greasable unit.

I'm wondering if flex in the C might be causing a problem. I know the C can bed permanently but maybe there is enough flex prior to bending that when done enough can cause a problem. I've got the ORE C gussetts so maybe that will help.

If we want to adjust camber, is this the part that we replace with an eccentric? If so, are there any greasable options?

Flex in the "C" is exactly what I am thinking too. afte the last alignment at the dealer the passenger side front tire's CAMBER was not in SPEC.. solid axle has no camber adjustment. I amd going to wait and see if it is still out with this next alignment after the ball joints get replaced on he 28th. If te camber is not in spec i will discuss it with the service manager.

On another note, I am not a big fan of the steering stabilzer myths and arguments on here. I know a dual setup is in some JK owners opinion a wast of money. that being said, I plan on going to 35 inch tires in the spring and I destroyed the stock setup, so my Father-in-law ordered the RC dual setup for me. We will be installing it in a few weeks. JK will NOT pass Pa state insp. without a steering stabilizer. So i might as well go overboard. I REALLY REALLY do like the wa the JK drives on road without one, but the law is the law. If i need one to pass insp, i might as well go all out.

I will let you all know about the camber after the 28th. Thank you all for your thoughts and input.

You can try NAPA auto parts or you can order from Specialty Products Company part # for a 1 degree offset ball joint 23520.

Hope this helps

Are these the Spicer ball joints at NAPA?? I know spicer and moog ball joints I have purchased for my 4x4's they have been greasable ball joints and they back them up with a lifetime warranty.

These are very similar since they do have the grease port. The warranty I'm not sure about, but I'll ask my tech.

A lifetime warranty would be nice; but I just want to be able to grease the damn things!

What lame brain bean counter came up with the idea of non-greasable ball joints?
