Any word on whether or not dealer is going to cover this? I just had a local fab shop make a beefier trac bar mount and they said i should check my wheel bearings and ball joints. They thought it should be under warranty but my dealer not so much.

My dealer says they are going to warranty mine, but I havent heard the final word yet. Like all things in this manner, it varies by dealer I'm sure. The tech at the dealer told me they have several other ball joint sizes (offsets) available if thats the need - otherwise a new steering knuckle should do it.

Edit: FYI, I merged these similar threads.

So should I tell the dealer that the tire shop found that my camber was off, or should I play dumb?

I feel like I should tell them so that they check everything, not just the ball joints that would cause my camber to be off?

Im going in Thursday.

From what I've heard and been told, there are no after-market ball-joints being produced, y-e-t. However, I recently had a nasty spell of w-o-b-b-l-e, and yes, it could be called D.W.; but anyhow, I swapped out all of my ball-joints. The shop that was assisting me contacted Dynatrac and reagrding said ball-joints, and they made a request that they be sent to them. Since none were being produced as after-market products, my "used" ball-joints were shipped to Dynatrac so they could use them as a starting point to engineer some after-market units. I have no idea what the ETA is on these new units, but hopefully something will eventually be produced.

I don't think this is true - I found several online, and my dealer said they have several available as well.

UPDATE:

Just got back from the dealer. They are ordering all four ball joints.

However, they put it on their alignment rack and said my camber is only -.3 when the tire shop said it was -1.0. So now the question is, who is wrong?

The answer: They're probably both wrong.

Seriously, thanks to all contributors on this thread. I have a little play in my balls and am going to have the dealership take a look this afternoon.

Yeah I'm interested in what my dealer comes up with too. The tire place had the fancy laser alignment set but my dealer has the latest greatest alignment setup - it looks like a god damn doppler radar or something.

I'll update when mine gets out of the shop - hopefully an offset joint will do the trick.
