best locker?
The manufacturer behind the JK 'Tru-Lok' (also known @ Chrysler as the EDL for electronic differential lock) is GKN Driveline.

Nope- GKN, the builder of the Rubi Locker, does not sell into the aftermarket. You can only get their products through the dealer and they only fit factory applications. A Rubi locker cannot be retrofitted into anything but a Rubi housing (OE or Dynatrac). There are reports of the Rubi locker being installed in standard 44 housings but significant (read- expensive and time consuming) modifications are required.

I severed the wiring harness to my rear e-locker when it got pinched between the track bar and my diff cover on Wheeler Lake last month. The aftermath had me chasing ghosts. I showed no error codes; I had correctly repaired the rear locker wiring; yet, no locker - but I did have the infernal flashing dash light.

A pal suggested I check for a "dead short" (blown fuse). Sure enough, a new 20A yellow fuse cured my locker woes. But I digress.
Before the fuse was located and replaced, I had discussions with my dealership's service manager (who politely told me my Jeep's warranty was NULL and VOID due to my modifications - whateva). Anyway, one of the issues we talked about was Rubicon e-locker reliability.
The man told me they see a lot of lifted JKs come in for grenaded OEM drive shafts, busted front axle u-joints, and a few bent tubes, but the factory GKN locker had shown itself to be "extremely durable."
I don't abuse my JK, but I do seek out the most difficult trails I dare take a licensed, road-going, daily driven Jeep with 35s on... and I'm pretty impressed with the performance of the locker.
For what it's worth.
This thread could not have come at a better time for me, ESPECIALLY all the input from Dynatrac! Once again, Dyantrac you have taken more than ample time to explain in great detail exactly what the bottom line is. That is one of the reasons I am getting ready to drop major dollars on your front and rear Pro Rock 60's (U.S. made is another reason). When I return from Afghanistan, I'll be calling Mel at Offroad Evolution in a couple of weeks for my order placement.
I did ARB front and rear I got a smoking deal for both new, I had them done when I regeared. I had just sleeved and gussetted my D30 got my gears from Northridge and had Camp and Shawn and the guys at COP4x4 do the regear and ARB install...............I am very pleased with the power. Heading to Sedona Saturday to do some wheeling.
Ya beat me by 3 mins. I was typing while you were posting accurate, pertinent info.

The stock JKU Rubicon e-locker is not from Eaton, but GNK...AND the GNK is actually stronger and more reliable than the D44 Eaton Elocker...correct...??
