Best shocks
Long arms move the wheel & axle more vertically and along a flatter arc.
With 6" lift or more, this is meaningful.
Up to 4" lift, there's no noticeable change in ride feel.
I compared 2 similar Jeeps with similar 4" lifts, one had long arms. None of us -- the other Jeep owner, a 4x4 shop owner and I -- could feel a true difference.
This sketch illustrates the difference, and why a true difference exist only when the lift is over a certain height:

At first I thought the shocks were firm, but after about a year of driving on them I think they're now on the softer side of things. Kind of hard to say, because they're digressive. I do know when swapping from the hard top to the soft top the ride tightens up and improves for me. I have about 40-50K on the shocks.
I really only do on-road driving, but on really lousy pavement. Handles it all pretty well. My wifes ride is a 3-series BMW - so I'm not comparing the Jeep to say, a F350
If anything I'm probably being a little critical.
