I just bought their #76634 SRC Side Armor for 4DR. Granted it looks great, seems strong enough and was a good price($250)

But the fit was HORRIBLE on the passenger side! The front holes did not match up with the factory holes...and I could barely get in sucker in! I had to clean up some of the left over welds on one side with minor filing and buy smaller bolts to get a tight fit. I sent them an email and got no response so I had to share with fellow JKers.

ive been thinking about getting the xrc fender flares, does anyone have them? do they fit and bolt right on or did you have trouble? pics please!

Didn't want to spend a lot of money on a replacement, especially since there isn't a rock within 100 miles to damage my rockers. However, I did want some basic protection.

Ended up going with the SRC Side Armor because I liked the look, they seemed fairly strong, had good feedback from a couple guys with them on the 2-door, and they were $240 shipped.

I know smittybilt doesn't have the greatest rep amongst hard core jeepers, but overall, I'm happy with them.

Very easy install - bolted right up to the body mounts. Start to finish, it took around 30 minutes.
The Smittybilt website photo makes it look like they have three mounting points. They don't... just two. They don't have any flex when you jump on them, and I did use them to lift one side of the jeep using a floor jack. There was a little flex, but didn't come close to touching the body.

Will they protect the body during moderate trails? Absolutely. Would I want something stronger if I was doing ridiculous over the top rock crawling? Yes I would.

But for $240, they meet my needs.

I just purchased and installed the SRC Side Armor from Smittybilt (76634) on my 2010 JK Unlimited Rubicon, and didn't have too many problems. On both the driver and apssenger side, one of the mounting holes was off by about 1/16th of an inch, but it only took a few minutes with a dremel to widen the hole so it fit. I don't think this is a manufacturing problem. Because these attach to the frame, I believe there is a bit of variability in the vehicles themselves. Here are a couple of pictures.

 

I had similar issues with all my Smitty products, however all my issues were able to be fixed with a dremel and a grinding bit.

 

I disagree with your statement about variability with the vehicles, if this were the case, it would be an issue with EVERY manufacturer that used these mounting points, not just SmittyBilt. I think that is the answer(excuse) they give everyone and tell them to just use a dremmel to cut it a bit. I believe that this is a manufacturing quality control problem, and one that this company has been burying their heads in the sand for years without correction. This leads me to believe that quality is not a priority with them and thus I will not be buying any more of their products.

With that said, once they are on, they are pretty solid.

 

I disagree as well with the variability/fitment issues. Having put on a set of sliders from one of the premium companies, everything lined right up. And having gone through this with a number of rigs in the club, the "top" companies have better fitment than the "bargain" companies.

But to me that's to be expected. You pay a premium to have everything fit like a glove. You save a bundle and you have to do a little work. I don't see an issue here.

 

For $295 you can get ACE rails and have the quality and fitment of the "top companies" for the price of, well, you know...
