Huge debate on this topic. won't tell you which one is "the best" but will give you some things to think about..

Where will you be with the jeep and bike at the same time? if you go off-road and bring the bikes, a hitch mount might scrape the rocks depending on where you are, a roof mounted might hit branches. if you're on paved roads, no concerns.

If you don't have a hitch, mount to the spare. keep in mind the Thule Spare Me doesn't fit 35" tires, but Yakima does.. both however are not good for your tailgate (trust me I know I have broken welds to prove it).

how many bikes? 2 or less, spare tire mount. more? hitch or roof.

Hard top or soft top or both? I use both, so I did't want to have bike racks in the way, so no roof rack for me (yet).

I had the Thule SpareMe when I was stock.. worked great, but put stress on my tailgate. Once I went to 34+ tires I had to change, wouldn't fit any more. so currently I have the Thule Revolver. its big and hard to use when I go "jeeping" as I'm afraid I'll hit it. however, for the most part it works great. once I added the AEV tire carrier the rack wasn't far enough away from the spare so I had to get an extension, not ideal, but works.

I think there are a lot of good options, but not any great. hopefully this gives you some things to think about.. My vote.. Thule Hitch or the Northridge one..

I have the Mopar one. Only holds 2 bikes, but swings out nicely with my AEV tire carrier, but like rdubb had to weld an extension once I added 35s.
