Brakes...
With the added weight of bigger tires, steel bumpers, winch, etc., what are you planning to do about brakes? The added weight has to be affecting braking distance, so I would expect brake upgrades must be in some people's plans... I've just started to think about this myself...

I've been thinking the same
Whenever my lift comes in
my wheel tire combo would weigh over 100lbs each vs the factory 50-60ish?
I was gonna switch to ceramic pads for greater braking power and less dust.
Plus the ~150 lb of aftermarket bumper and winch up front as a battering ram could probably use some extra assurance Im going to stop in time.

Don't have a winch or bumper on yet, but with my larger tires and rock sliders (guessing about 70 lbs each) I am not having any braking problems. The brakes on the JK are by far the best factory brakes on an open top Jeep to date.
I was kind of thinking the opposite about the brakes on my JK (4-door), and I don't even have any heavy aftermarket add-ons. The brakes on my TJ were much more powerful. When I got the JK, I just thought the brakes were a little weak due to the fact that it is a heavier vehicle. The brake pedal is halfway to the floor before I really even feel anything, and I have to really stomp on the brake if I need to stop quick. I have an auto, and I've learned that when making a fast stop from a high rate of speed, I need to downshift into 2 at the same time I hit the brakes. I never had to do that in my TJ.

I second that. My CJ had manual 4 wheel disc and it would almost lock up all 4wheels. I still think my JK has better brakes.

Really? The brakes on our Lexus could for sure throw you into the windshield, even with very light pressure, but I have never had that feeling with my Jeep (not even close). Next time I have the JK in for service, I guess I'll ask them to check the brakes.
