Default Broken Into...AGAIN!!!

So this is the 4th time in 5 months ive been broken into. im usually very good at keeping nothing of value in the car and keeping my center console locked but it seems that ONE time i forget to lock it is when shit goes missing. i can only imagine how much more often this would happen if i didnt lock it as often as i do.

being said, its clear that its time to invest into an alarm/ security system and this is where i need inputs. i have an 07 JKUX and i run a trektop nx. i still dont plan on locking doors becuase lets face it, thats just silly. but i would like a system that i can engage that will go off if anyone even tries to open a door wether a door is locked or not. anyone have a simliar set up or can point me in the right direction?

You'd be surprised of how much locking your doors would help. It's called "car shopping" kids just go vehicle to vehicle checking doors. If it opens, they're in. If its locked, they usually just move on. They don't want to take the time to unzip widows or even crawl around through the top to get it. Their goal is to get in and out as fast as they can.
Of course as with anything, there are the times that tops get cut, but that's usually when something tempting is in plain view. If my doors are on, I lock them. Top up or down, they get locked

Agreed! I always lock my doors no matter what. Even with the top in the sunrider position, I lock the doors in the hopes that if any passers by would see someone climbing over my locked doors, they would say something. Locking the doors makes it just that little bit harder to get in and take whatever they want quickly

Agreed. We're running a risk with the soft top already so I always lock my doors no matter what. Plus, I'd like to think that thieves are lazy so anything I can do to make stealing from me enjoying I'm going to do it. As far as a security system goes, I've had buddies install REALLY loud horns behind their spare tires to scare the hell out of anyone trying to take that (no idea how they did it). That's the most annoying thing people have stolen from my Jeep...stripped the locking nut off and everything...

Anyway, Tuffy makes nice locking compartments if you're looking to keep nice things in the Jeep. I know is not technically a security system but I'm thinking it'd be just as effective and cheaper?

Buy a big dog and put him in the back. Problem solved.

I don't know if this is feasible, but what about not leaving anything in the center console or glove, and just leaving them wide open so anyone looking in can see there's nothing to steal.

Best I've been able to do so far with my soft top up or down, lock doors and glove box, put valuables in Tuffy's security full center console. These consoles have a lot more storage over OE and a taller arm rest to boot

Hopefully you get the opportunity I hat a few years back. I fought the guy in the act. As he stood there, leaning into my SUV, admiring the found goodies in the consol, I took the opportunity to kick the door shut as hard as I could. I dislocated his knee cap and tore ligaments. Needless to say, he couldn't run, he tried, tripped really hard, then the police came. He went to jail and had to work in there to buy a new window. As a locked door only deters the opportunist criminal. All others, with intent, will still break in.
