I've owned two jeeps and (knock on wood) never locked them. Nothing has ever been stolen. I'd rather them take what they want than cut the top open. But I don't leave much in the jeep but some straps and minor tools if I need them.

Nice Work!! Id love to catch someone in the act. Regarding locking doors its a bit of a catch 22. As much as a missing flashlight or some loose change may suck, imagine a nice cut up softtop/broken window. I just try to make sure I dont leave anything of any value in my jeep or any vehicle for that matter.

This is exactly what I do.

I bought the locking tuffy cubby cover and have everything stored in there inside ziplock freezer storage bags (in case of rain). The tuffy cover locks, and on top of that can't be opened unless the tailgate is open (because the lip goes right under the tailgate on the inside), so as long as the tailgate is locked there's no getting in there.

On top of that, there is absolutely nothing in my glovebox, and I only keep a single thing in my center console (a pen), because nothing says you're an asshole like making off with nothing but a pen (not really, I do actually use the pen though). I keep both the glovebox and center console unlocked because then someone won't break it trying to open it just to realize there's nothing in there.

I went door-less and topless for about a month last year and nothing was ever broken / stolen.

In my area last summer they never bothered my jeep when I left the top down for days at a time. Then decided to just unzip the windows and leave muddy foot prints on my back seat bastards did it three times

I keep the NRA window sticker visible, and some used targets laying in the back. Nobody have ever touched my soft top.

Well, unfortunately the better our jeeps look the more the criminal type want to break into. I've heard both sides of the lock don't lock debate and I'm not convinced that unlocked keeps you from getting slashed or searched.

Here is my trick (if necessary) that could work but takes a little planning. Keep nothing in the center console (or glove box) but the trash you will pull out when you get out. It needs to look like something you value. Spread it around when you get out and leave the lid up, it looks like its already been hit. I have used this at ballparks, apartment complexes, and anytime my girl is at risk. Set it up and make it look real!

Viper alarm with proximity sensor. Now just have to alarm my front steps to catch the prick who's been stealing my UPS deliveries.

Get a few diapers ( clean ones) and roll them up like used ones and leave on the dash and seats. No one will break in again. Ever.

I had the Tuffy cover and did not like it. It only had two 1/2 bolts holding the whole thing in, they just bolted to the fender wells. Went with a tool box that is held down from the inside and is more water proof. I do plan to add and extra hinge and padlock.

I do need to keep my glove box and center console more cleaned out!
