So what are people doing when they run topless/doorless? With automatic doors, if you leave the doors unlocked, they can use the door lock button on the interior door handle to open all locks including the tailgate. So my vote is with lock your doors or run doorless and lock your console and everything else. Besides, anyone walking by and witnessing someone attempting a forced entry will most likely call the authorities or alert someone

Hahahaha, thank you for just making my morning. I love to hear such a happy story like that.

To the OP. Where are you getting robbed at? Same location? In your driveway? If so, set up a trail cam and catch the SOB. Or better yet, sit up all night until he shows up, and start dislocating some kneecaps!

1. I bought two Tufts, glove box and underseat box.
2.I don't carry anything around town that won't fit or is worth stealing
3I lock out of habit because locks usually only keep honest people honest.
4 I've considered a sign saying unlocked and empty, please feel free to look just don't cut the windows.

In my old the, I had the big Tuffy tool box and you'd really have to work to open it. I also had the console box which was bolted thru the pan and to the sides again a lot of work to open. I did have them all keyed the same.jj

I have the viper with motion sensor. Even with all doors and top off, if someone sticks anything in the jeep the alarm goes off. It will also notify my keychain from over a 1/2 mile away .

X2 what he said. Get yourself a good 2-way system with proximity sensor. I installed a switch to cut power on both the factory horm and alarm siren so in the evnt theres a false trigger my neighbours wont be annoyed. Also, if someone reaches in the jeep at night I don't neccessarily want them to be scared off by the siren. I want them to stick around so that I have a chance to get out there. Oh and I have an 8ch sucurity system with auto tracking PTZ camera just in case.

Ditto here, but a Clifford. The microwave sensor is the shit. It works great and let's fools know that there is an alarm without being too annoying. Of course, being proactive is the best defense.

Sent from the fast lane while driving one handed.

can you give me more about this viper system- costs, how sensitive is it, can i turn off the siren when i wish to, etc.

i live in a great neighborhood in va beach, however, i have two not good neighborhoods about 2 miles away and they know to come to where the nice houses are. i think a simple alarm should be enough to keep the ghetto out of my jeep

I have a Compustar on my Jeep (essentially the same system just that the remote is big and bulky compared to the Viper) I installed 2 viper systems with proximity sensors on my semi trucks. You can pick up the Viper 5902 system anywhere from $290-$320 and the DEI 508D dual zone sensor from $20-$30. The dual sensor has two adjustments. The first can be adjusted to secure the warn-away perimeter. So if someone approches to look in side you Jeep the system will beep twice and the parking lights flash and you will be notified on your 2-way remote. The second zone is the trigger and you can adjust this so that if someone reaches inside or passes the doorway into the Jeep the alarm will fully sound and page you. It takes some fine tuning to get the adjustments just right but it's well worth the time and money.
If you at all handy with electrical work, it's not too difficult a job to install

I hear you about the shit heads that live near by. Two blocks down from me is government housing blocks and come summer the scum of the scum start lerking around. Last summer my surveillance caught 2 guys trying to steal my dads Dodge Ram (which they failed to do) and caught another guy who stole a Buddha statue from my sisters front porch just next door. Both guys were caught thanks to the surveillance

this really does depend on how big of a problem you are having.

If you're just worried that there's some kids trying to steal shit...try your best not to put shit in the jeep. Lock it up. Walk away. Invest in one of those ridiculously expensive locking boxes, or make your own.

If you're more worried about someone trashing your jeep out of stupidity or...dare I saw the awful words...stealing your rig...you need to think about spending some money.

Someone already mentioned buying a viper alarm system. Bingo. I would argue they're the best on the market. You can get many options, including the mentioned sensor option and one of my favourites: smartphone notifications.

I happen to park my jeep in the garage but when it's outside I've got ip cameras I can dial into to check it out. Even though I live out in the country and not a lot happens. I have to say, i trust no one. I am paranoid with leaving the thing

Wicked world we live in.

Isn't it just marvelous how much the country has progressed!! In 1979 I went to town to celebrate, uhhhh...Heck I celebrated a lot of things back then. Anyway when the bar closed one of my buds drove me home. Next day around noon I got the wife to drive me to the bar. There was my ole CJ. Key in the ignition small tool box in the back, jacket and some candy bars on the passenger seat. NOTHING I mean NOTHING was missing!! True story.
