Sounds like a typical solidworks issue, it's very user friendly but not as stable as other softwares. I haven't looked at it yet, been too busy to play with it.

I've opened the files in Autocad and can see the 3D wireframe and can switch to shaded as well. I'm going to try it in Inventor when I get a chance. I don't have Solidworks

If you can get it opened in inventor and save a STEP file that might work. I'm not really familiar with working with wire-frames too much so I'm not sure if it can be converted to a solid model very easily.

has anyone had any luck importing or converting it into solidworks? Im able to get single view wire frames, but thats were im stuck

I have it converted into a solid model, but the file is HUGE.
I am working on making it usable and will then upload it.

The best free CAD program I've come across (I teach CAD and Solidworks) is Draftsight CAD. It's made by same company as Solidworks.

You can use it on MAC or PC and it reads all DWG files.
