Superior makes a great gear, can't go wrong with them.
What type of trail driving do you do and is your Jeep a daily driver? Stick or auto?

There is now a mfg with a 5.38 set for Dana 30's that is advertised as safe, but that's just too gear'd for my comfort level. Stick with 5.13's or 4.88's, depending on your driving style and off road needs.

Heavy mudding? That's some high wheel speed with the potential to snag some rocks and snap an axle or drive shaft.

5.13's then. Tons of fun for off road. If you want to gear down even further you could add a RubiCrawler from Advance Adapters. Takes you down from 2:1 to 7.4:1 crawl ratio in your Sahara. Totally unchanged for daily driving.

If you ran 5.13s in a d30 with stock axle shafts, would it be safe to say that if you suddenly gained traction when your wheels were spinning that if something was going to break, it would be the stock axle shafts? Or is there still a high risk of r&p failure?

I have a friend who's gone through three sets of 5.13 R&Ps. Just to damned small for serious wheeling. I would personally not go any smaller than 4.88 and at that, I wouldn't lock it.

Keep us posted as to how well it does. I know I was uber worried on my last JKU with the 5.13s and 37" tires. Too bad it was totaled in an accident shortly after having the gears done.
