Default Clunk...

I have a 2007 JK Unlimited Rubi and after taking much time reading through the forums and the posts on the infamous clunk in the steering I have one question for the masses...like others I'm hearing a clunk in the fromt sounds like from the passenger side front, only when I turn to the right!!!! Seems to be a more prevalant when it's colder to. Yesterday it was a better temp of 65 and I tried to replicate the sound for a fellow Jeeper and nothing...this morning, a cool 41 and sure enough first right tuen "clunk"! Im going to try and lube/grease anything thats got a rubber bushing or boot on it just wanted to see if there are any other thoughts out there. THanks for any help!!

you need to give us a bit more info - do you have a lift kit installed or are you running stock and is the clunk a single clunk or is it a series of clunks?

Thanks for the reply...factory 2.5 lift, stock wheels and tires. It's a single clunk and i hear it when turning to the right or occasionally when i hit a bump....pretty unnerving.

okay, that' helps. can you feel the clunk in your steering wheel? also, have you gone wheeling recently or just before the clunk started? if so, is there a chance that you've hit your tie rod and maybe bent it just a bit? could be your steering stabilizer is not making contact with the track bar mount at the axle now. also, i would check your sway bar links as it's not uncommon for the bolts to come loose especially at the sway bar.

Wheeling, not in awhile, I can feel it in the steering wheel, maybe even slightly in the floor as well...sometimes faint, sometimes stronger...inconsistant. Sure appreciate the help and btw, love your ride...the 8179 on your stone white are outstanding just ordered a set myself and going with the Cooper STT 295/70R17s (on a sidenote of course)

I had something similar in the front end of mine the first few weeks I owned it and after 4 trips to the dealer they finally figured out something was broken. I think it turned out to be something blown apart on the inside of the steering pump.

BINGO i found something that might help. well let me tell you something. i have the same problem as you if i hit a bump or the front end flexes a bit i hear the clunking sound. i started hearing the noise on my way out of AZUSA CANYON OHV. the clunk was coming from the front driver side almost from the floor board. in the morning i went to the garage and found some fluid on the floor i thought it was my 1993 accord and found the fluid was coming from the pit arm/steering box. but still why would there be clunking noise. HELP PLEASE i dont want to go to the slealership

If you haven't done it already you should tighten everything up uber your jeep. Could be sway bars, drag link, track bar, control arms, ect.
