Kinda looks like there would be less air flow than it would with it off, but it would definitely would only be air comming in from outside.

It's not paintable, it's a foam product.

I don't think it reduces air flow at all, the intake is still quite open.

I meant that instead of pulling air from the compartment, it has to pull it through the crack under the edge of the hood.

All i can say, i'll never get CAI after this hapened:

K&N drop in works fine for me. I did get water and mud inside the air box, but it just stayed on the bottom of it...

I love the idea it is so simple. I will use that with a K&N drop in and call it good.

For $12, it's definitely worth the investment.

According to the display (which I don't think is very accurate) my MPG went up .4 since the install yesterday.

i'm really at a loss to why there is a fear of water and a CAI. you still have to go about as deep as with the stock air box to get water in a CAI. most of the systems, well the ones worth getting, come with a new air box or splash guard to keep the water down and to reduce the spray that the radiator fan will produce. there are holes in the bottom of the stock air box, granted, they are small, and hard to get to with water, but sit in a mud pit long enough and the air box will fill up.

the filter is designed to reduce the dirt and water flow into the engine. its not like the engine can't handle a little bit of water. so even with a CAI you still need to be in the water up to or past your head lights for water to become an issue. and personally, at that point, i'd me more concerned with water inside the cab then the engine.

even with a CAI you would've been fine in that. it'd be cutting it close, but you'd be fine.

mricci86 with a K&N CAI intake kit, not just a drop in filter. and his air box only got a little wet. the filter was still dry as a bone.

I may have to give that one a shot. I have decided I do not want to run any of the CAI kits for a couple of reasons. The stock filter and box work well and I do not have to worry about oil getting on my sensor. I also do not want to pay so much money for a marginal increase in power, if there is any at all. I am not looking for the cool sound, either. 12 bucks I can swing, and if I dont like it, no biggie. Thanks for the idea!

I just tried to order it from the wonderful dealer by my house. They say they can not get a overseas part. I am thinking it is more like they will not get me the part. Cant be bothered.
