thats a great idea. and just imagine the awesome airflow you would get if you had the aev heat reduction hood. if im not mistaken, it has the vents on each side which would allow for a crazy amount of airflow.

They definitely CAN get the part, but it isn't a standard. If they won't, PM me, and I'll get you my dealer's number. Maybe they'll ship it to you?

Yeah, my dealer actually sells AEV modded Jeeps (it's the dealership AEV gets its Jeeps from) so we looked at one with that hood on it, and it lines up almost perfectly!

I love this idea. Simple and cheap. You can't go wrong for $12....or probably like $99 for us here in Canada.

Default CAI part ????

I went to my local Jeep dealer to order this part, HA HA. They could not find anything anywhere, even with the part #. I offered to pay in advance if they would research it and order it. They refused, I see why Chrysler is going broke. If anyone can get these, let me know, I am interested.

yeah I'm confused here, I was following the theory until I seen the pics and I don't get how this helps with deep water fording and the relationship to a CAI which utilized a box of sorts usually around the bottom of the filter and rubber seal on the top. At least the better systems do and then still they could pull water under the hood to quarter panel crack.

What did I miss here?

Most CAIs are not enclosed. Also they have a direct airflow pull, unlike the stock box, which pulls from the the top. It's hard to explain w/o pictures, but the air comes into the stock box, and moves up through the filter into the engine. This creates a reservoir, in case water does get into the area, and limits the chance to draw water into the engine. Personally, in my Jeep, there are water spots all over the top of the stock air box, which means if I had a traditional CAI, I'd probably have some kind of water in the engine, or a wet (read clogged) filter.

Additionally, this creates a direct draw from air OUTSIDE the engine compartment, thus creating a true 'cold air intake'.
