found why this part is hard to get. When the mopar parts man looks up the number is says for "export only not for US" or something along those lines.
Just thought you might like to know. My local guy is going to try and order it anyway. Will report back with what happens.

Yeah, it's designed for export (it's made for the diesel), but also available here, as well. I have one under my hood right now. If the dealer orders it, they'll get it. But they have to actually TRY to do it.

I just called my local dealer and gave him the part number you provided. He found it and if comes up as a filter, however he went on and said that it's a Mopar "export only" part, and he cannot order it. He goes on and say's since it's for export only he has no way of ordering the part.
How did you get the thing??

Just called another major dealer here in Lancaster Pa, and went through the same thing. he stated the part cost $8.17, however when he went in to order, a red X came up and the screen showed. "Cannot Order" for EXPORT ONLY.
I'm going to Chrysler CS and sing them the blues.

AEM makes a water bypass coupler that is supposed to route any water that gets past the filter out of the intake tube.

My dealer placed the order with the part number. No issues. My brother-in-law, who works for Chrysler, gave me the part number, and stated that dealers CAN order it, even though it's labeled for 'export' only.

I think if the dealer has issue it's because of the cost of the part - not much mark-up

Default order parts??

I had the same problem at the local dealer, he couldn't find it and he wouldn't order it. I found a dealer in MI who was VERY helpful and order it for me. He found 2 at Jon Hall's Jeep (Daytona Beach, FL) and he sent one to me. It was $15 plus shipping-$22.50 total. Both these dealers were very helpful. Haven't got a chance to see if there is any difference.

Well I ended up calling Chrysler One CS. Talked to a rep and explained the delima I was having. After he took my VIN and all my information along with the part number, he called my dealer and kept me on hold. When he gotr back to me he said that the partsman from my dealer would be giving me a call. Sure enough I got a call about 20 minutes later. the parts guy said he was sorry for so much hassle, and he now has a number at Chrysler he can call and get authorization to order the part. the part by the way is $8.17, he said he would call after lunch and get back to me to confirm ther order. He called me back about 2:00 PM and said the he could not order the part, as he was told there are currently none to be had here in the US, and for some reason they will be blocked until sometime in July. Well unless anyone knows a dealer somewhere that can get me one, I guess I'll have to wait until July.
If on the other hand someone knows a dealer that can get me one, maybe we can get together and you could purchase it for me, then I could buy the $10 part from you for say $20 plus the shipping cost. I would really like to get one of these things since it now has my curosity.
