Default Cold Air Intakes

Comments on whose CAI system is the best?

Some possibilities:

AEM Brute Force - because it's a dry filter (no messing with oil)
PureJeep - because I simply like their products (anybody know if it's a dry or oiled filter?
K&N
AirRaid - (but I've heard they're noisier than the others)

Thanks!

I think I remember Airraid getting the most Horsepower. I was wondering how many extra horses people are getting from the Volant closed box setup.

I wish I had a Dyno in my backyard.

I can only speak for the AirRaid, and since I've never run on the Dyno I have no idea what kind of impact (besides giving the engine a nice growl) it actually produces.

Im running airaid. After i installed i did feel a nice little extra boost. No numbers though. Also my dash MPG read about 1 mpg better. I had the squeel the first time i installed but then figured out if you install properly it will not squeel at all!

I would recommend!

This is the first time anyone has ever asked this question. Oh wait - no it's not... see here, here, or here, (or one of the other 10 threads about it) and learn how to use the Search function. If you're trying to search for a 3-character word (i.e., "CAI"), use a wildcard at the end of it: "CAI*".

My $.02: I have AIRAID, and couldn't be happier with it - slightly improved my fuel economy, and lends a nice snarl to the engine under throttle... "seat of the pants" measurement shows a small increase in performance, as well.

What do you mean by install it properly to stop the squeal? I installed mine correctly and it squeals. What did you do differently to stop it?

Thanks for saying what's on my mind before I even know it's there!

Even if your specific question hasn't been answered already, it's better to add to an existing thread. yetibear has a great link in his sig that should be required reading before posting: NOOBs click here!

I went with AEM Brute Force. Depending on whose propaganda you read they are all close to the same thing. It all comes down to personal choice. Just my two cents :-)

I have experience with the K&N system as I had one in my last truck. And, I have an Airaid in my JK.

Compared to the Airaid, the K&N system is not as good. The quality of the Airaid components are off the chart better than the K&N I had before. Even the hardware was better. It was easier to install, and fit better than the K&N too.

It is noisier than the stock intake, but only when you are really jumping on the throttle. I think you will have that issue regardless of what CAI you choose.
