Yes, you would want a spacer to move the wheel out (effectively decreasing the backspacing). My example is real, but extreme. Your wheels won't sit that far out even with spacers.

They're 15x10 pro comp alloy's.

3 and some change then I added the spidertrax spacers. The wide stance is to stay out of the ruts down on the beach. Even with the narrower tires (10.5"), I was at 84" wide at the tires.

I'm running 5" backspacing with a 16" x 8" wheel, which works perfectly for my needs. The tires and stance are wider, but the top of the tread is under the flare keeping me legal in PA.

I'm in Pa. My tires stick out a good 1.5" to 2" and no one has said anything to me. Just had it inspected and not a thing was said. Most times they will let ya get away with it.
