Dana 44 Front Locker on Rear Dana 44?
So I just picked up my first JK today and in the works of building mildly. Sold my TJ last fall, and its great to have 4 doors with kids! I'll try to make my question as short as possible. My dad has a fully built JK as well, when he was installing a new Dana 44 in his 09 unlimited sport, he somehow ended up with two front electric lockers. Genuine mopar part number 68017176AA. My question is, can this be used in my rear axle? I've tried researching as much as possible cant find anything.

Besides a locker, it's a great time to upgrade your whole Dana44 for the most strength possible from the factory axle. We've got two axle kits that cover this, and include an ARB air locker. They're available in either a 5 on 5 or 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern. https://www.dynatrac.com/axleshaft-k...ndle-kits.html

Though the rubi and non-rubi d44 housings have the same basic dimensions and strength, the insides are a bit different and the rubi locker won't fit without some modification. Front rubi locker is 30-spline, rear non-rubi shafts are 30-spline, But - even if the locker did fit, the pumpkins on both housings are offset just a bit from each other so they use different length axle shafts. There was a post many years ago from a guy that got it to work, but he ended up saying that if he had to do it over again, he would have just bought an arb.

Check out the Eaton E-locker also. It was redesigned a while back to be comparable to an arb in strength. Lots of people are choosing it these days just to not have to deal with air. And, depending on your use, a Detroit TrueTrac is a great option as well.

Yep, this. I'm running the Eaton 4 pin in the rear, and it has given me no issues locking or unlocking. Loving it.
