diff cover question...
So this might be a stupid question but adding new/stronger diff covers sounds great and seems better but it only protects one side of your axle down there.
Is the other part of the differential strong as is already?
Thanks.

yup, the differential housing is very cast and very thick and strong. the factory cover is just a thin piece of stamped steel.
Exactly what WOL said!
The housing will take quite the beating but the factory cover is kinda like a tootsie roll pop it will only take a few licks.....
If you're looking for some check out Solid's special in the sponsor section....can't beat the price and free shipping.

Whether there is truth to this or not, I have a hard time believing they are THAT much stronger and certainly not the extra $45 per diff cover stronger (at the SOLID sale price)
I do like the Riddlers and was going to purchase some in the future since they were one of the cheaper ones (in price), but you can't beat $65 shipped!
I also agree that the Riddlers cant get caught on anything, but are the SOLID's that susceptible to rocks and stuff?
I mean if you get stuck on a rock with your diff cover that has to be a weird angle right?

okay, i've got to weigh in on this thread and tell you that while i really do like aftermarket diff covers, some of the arguments for getting one over another is borderline silly. to the best of my knowledge, i have not seen a jeep hit a rock on its diff with enough force to equal the weight of a 100,000 lb. excavator or a 7.62x39mm round. the fact of the matter is, anything is better than stock and even at that, stock really isn't all that bad.
any of the aftermarket covers will do the job. just buy the one you like best.
I ended up getting TWO of them for a grand total of $65 because I won one, and bought the other at this rediculous sale SOLID has going on.
EDIT: WOL beat me to it.
