Front d-30, rear d-44, That's if your Sahara is 4wd.

I went with the 2wd version to cut down on costs

Seriously thanks for the help and the quick reply... another question

How hard are they to install? Is it necessary to get both?

Here's a write-up,different brand, but they go on the same.

You don't have to do both, you can do one, then do one later.

If you do alot of off-roading ,it's almost essential to have this type of protection for the diff, gears, locker and such. The stock cover is pretty thin, and it's cheaper to get a better one than to have yours gears trashed by a rock or something. Plus they are a helluva lot harder to peel off when skidding across an obstacle. And they look kool too.

Okay, lets just say that the stock diff cover is a piece of aluminum foil compared to the after market ones. Why does that make a difference? Well, there are a whole bunch of important things in there that make your Jeep go forward or backward. Without those nifty gears intact and lined up perfectly, don't expect to go anywhere, period. So, now that we understand that the diff is very important, go out to your JK, kneel down in front of it and look underneath. Tell me what the lowest point on the truck is (other than the wheels). Repeat procedure in the rear, and then ask the neighbors if they would like to convert to your new religion, where you worship internal combustion. The diff, a crucial part of the truck, is the lowest point on the vehicle, and has no protection. You bang that sucker into a rock, figure on the diff cover getting crushed and knocking those gears out of whack. The after market ones are tough. They hold up the weight of the vehicle slamming into something and give you the chance to come out with a driveable vehicle. Within reason of course. You don't need front and rear. You drive forwards most of the time, so a front one will do. However, after years of just running a front one, I discovered that it is even harder to see when backing up off an obstacle, and that the back one crunches just as easy as the front. I now run front and rear. I wheel pretty hard, so I figure that if you are asking the question, you probably aren't out banging the s**t out of your JK on everything you can find, so front is probably sufficient. As far as protection goes, front diff cover is the most important. Buy this before bumpers, skids, etc. You can smash up your front end, dent your gas tank, scratch the body, and tear off doors and then proudly show your battle damage at work the next day, but you dent that diff cover, you can plan on walking home.

I have Solid diff covers on my JK. I've had them in the past and have nothing bad to say about them. I've also had diff guards and can't complain about them either - they were on Land Rovers and there are no diff covers to be replaced.

I'm not sure if they are still on sale, but Solid had a sale going for a while. Pretty good deal.

Tell her it is cheaper than a taxi ride home the next time you go wheeling.

Mine new one's are in the mail ( TeraFlex covers), both my stockers are leaking from some scraping. I ordered my wife a new steering stabilizer, she's got a jeep( 06 LJ ) too. Also got her some spidertrax spacers so she could run my 17in rims and tires off my X. But that kinda stuff only works if you have a 2jeep family.
