The SOLID diff cover requires you to grind a portion of the cover down to fit the Dana 44 on the Rubicon...

How about other manufacturers (Riddler, ARB, RR)?? Id like to just get them and slap theem on....

Thanks

One slide off a rock and you can catch the thin stock diff cover. The picture below was my stock diff cover beaten back to slow the leaking, but if you catch it just right you can drain your diff in no time. A few years back, I truck I was with backed up into a pointy rock. Just didn't notice the rock. Put a hole clear through the cover. I have more stories, but their pretty much the same. If you take your Jeep out of the parking lot, you increase the chances of diff damage. Help?

Sort of related:

I was driving down a well-maintained forest/dirt road in western Maine on Saturday and suddenly I spotted a good sized rock sticking up in the middle of the road. It was up enough to make me cringe as I went over it. My jeep cleared it by plenty but so many years of driving cars that would not have made it over (or maybe just barely cleared it) made me shudder.

How do I know it was too damn high for a car to clear it? The trail of oil that started and continued down the road for a mile or more!

Someone didn't make it over that rock that morning. I was fully expecting to find someone broken down up the road somewhere but I didn't. It was fresh oil, too, I know because it was covered over a few hours later when I returned.

Somebody pierced either a diff or the oil pan. Probably cost them an engine. Bummer! And a good 10-15 miles of nothing in any direction, too!
