The downside of using soft air beads is that they will eventually turn to dust and clog up your air stems and TPMS sensors. Agreed that they are more affordable and will get the job done; I just wouldn't recommend them if you plan on airing down a whole lot over the life of the tire. The ones that ate designed for that purpose shouldn't degrade as quickly or as much.

Agreed, I don't have tpms. Airing down should be an issue unless the stem is at the bottom. We will see how it goes over time. Worst case will be a shop vac and a balancer.

when i had my 35s installed last year the tire guy talked me into using dynabeads , they were ok until around 45 50 mph then a constant shimmy , took them back and they balanced them conventionally . sometimes they work and other times not i think the larger tires probably have a higher satisfaction rate with the beads . i do know when i was workin on trucks every day we were made to use them on steer tires . they were ok mostly .

I tried the smaller beads and they were a mess. Condensation in the tire and the crap they use to mount the tire clumped the beads.
I've heard people have luck with air soft pellets and the bigger Dyna beads.

The thing I like most about the beads is that if you go out on a trail that has a ton of mud or you chunk a tire tread on a rock someplace the beads will self adjust for those little(sometimes big) changes in balance to the setup. They are dynamic just like the junk on your tire after trail use.

I have had Dynabeads in my Trail Grapplers for over 20,000 miles with now issues. 1 8oz bag per tire. The Dynabeads are more expensive but they are made for this so they hold up better then airsoft pellets.

Ok I had beads on my 33" tires. The guy used small beads for a passenger car. They did not work at all. But I was told if u use air soft beads u will be fine. The small beads don't roll we'll in the big tire.

Another vote for Dyna Beads. 15,000 mi. The only issue I have ever had was that after an emergency braking situation where the tires were locked up and then set back to rotating at road speed almost immediately, there was a horrible shimmy. I was sure something must be horribly wrong. After stopping to check major components and bolts, the problem was gone once I got back in and started driving. I guess it's possible to "trap" the beads in a concentrated area in that situation (not sure, but seemed like the issue). My 35 KOs are shimmy free from 0-85 mph.
