Just to chime in, got my JCR Dagger with pre-runner a couple weeks ago, and it was in great shape. Can't always account for what happens in shipping, but no scratches on mine.

Installation was easy, instructions were on their website as someone else said- would have been nice to have them in the box, but no big deal. That extra part that someone found is the anchor for winching (provides a side-to-side anchor in addition to the eight standard mounting bolts).

The skid plate, though, was dead simple for me. Not sure what the problem is there... 7 bolts. Two holes had to be drilled larger on my crash bar.

Second was his rear bumper with tire carrier. The aluminum hinge cap wouldn't fit the steel threads, sent pictures to JCR, they said it was impossible. The steel pipe warped when they welded it to the bumper. The customer is never right in their eyes though...

Third the warped tire carrier hinge was misaligned and would hit the lower tailgate hinge when fully opened causing the plastic cover to come off. Eventually the plastic cracked and fell off.

Forth, after one winter (garage kept) and only 3,000 miles the hinge locking device seized up. It is now useless and he has to hold the gate open with a bungee cord.

JCR = garbage

I personally installed a PSC RockBrawler on my Jeep and had no problems at all. Fit tight like a glove and every hole lined up perfectly. Just like my AEV Premium bumper.
I would have your brother contact me directly (Daryl, one of the owners of JCR) with those photos so we can figure out what is going on with that front hoop, same with the spindle cap. 1.5" is an insane amount and I think that may be an exaggeration, but I don't deny it could be off some.
On the locking pin for the hinge, those do need to be greased from time to time, but again, I will happily send him one if he contacts us.
We've spent a lot of money on return shipping for items that where .25" off; so I'm not sure how he ended up ultimately getting blown off if that is the case, but I will correct it.

It's easy to spend $30 on a box for an item, and then eat a hundred dollars in the extra freight charges for the over-sized package when you have high margins on products. Honestly that is what it comes down to, we ship unfinished products, wrapped in cardboard, UPS ground; to save the customer money in the long run. We do try to band and zip-tie each peiece securely, and most products can ship without the cardboard at all and everything will still make it there.

Our product is superior to many other manufacturers that charge more money, but we require the customer to decide on a finish themselves, and sometimes (as shown here) they require a little bit of prep before that finish. We could have custom boxes made, palatalize everything, and send it freight, but it won't be for the same price.

The question we get asked most often? "Can I get free shipping?"

( With this I expected no nicks or areas that needed to be ground down) Once I had done all this and powder coated it looked awesome.

I talked with you via e-mail and I'll respond the same here. I'll do whatever it takes to make you happy with our product.

Default Great expectations

When you expect to get what you pay for, I don't think you are expecting too much.

I go cheap when I feel like gambling. When gambling, it's like my youngest son says, "When you win, you win." That doesn't change the fact that most of the time you lose, it just sounds better.

My own experiences with cheap have turned out surprisingly good.

Cheap Chinese front and rear bumpers with tire carrier for under $800 delivered:
Pro - Well designed and constructed. Well packaged and delivered on pallet with no chips or dings. (first picture)
Con - One of the bull-bar light tabs slightly bent so bent it back. Rusting at weld joints so painted it with bed liner. Winch fit tight so modified mount holes.

Rancho 4" Sport Lift with RS9000XL shocks for under $600 after $500 rebate:
Pro - Rides better than factory. Jeep got BIG. Plenty of room for my 315/70R17 Duratracs.
Con - Roof rack cross bars and CB antenna have to come off to get in garage (partial blame on tires).

Duratracs from local Kauffman tire shop:
Pro - Undercut SamsClub price by $30/tire. Transferred TPMS and put new stems on old rims with old tires for free. Lifetime balance and patch.
Con - None.

Kudos to Daryl at JCR for taking the time to rectify these issues!

I would like to add this as I do not want anything to be misunderstood. I am happy with the products I purchased in the end, everything worked out.

Daryl has responded to all me emails and answered all my questions. I would definitely do business again with JCR.

Also I reached out to Breven @ PSC, they are sending me a new passenger flare... again I would do business again with them.

I wanted to express my expectations and my experience with both companies, and they both ended good. I think one important thing to take away is everyone makes mistakes or stuff happens outside of their control. I think it speaks VOLUMES on what they do after the fact.

I do think we need a lot more discussion and thoughts on stuff. This allows us to be aware of things that may happen or we may come into. Granted we won't know everything or everyone's experience but it helps us. I say this because I see a lot of talks on looks or stuff saying, shit held up and that doesn't tell me the whole experience.

Thank you to all that chimed in.

Well said Thanks for adding your experience and feed back. Too often I see companies getting bashed on different forums for simple errors, that are corrected in the end. Glad this didn't turn into one of those threads and you are happy in the end!

We are all human and make mistakes. More often than not, these companies will work with you and do the best to correct any problems you have. Best way to start is to be polite.

Can you explain that winch anchor to me? I got the bumper all installed and had no idea what to do with it till I found the instructions online. It goes on before the bumper slides onto the frame. If i remember correctly. I thought it was just a "helper" piece!
