Do I need to buy Rugged Ridge mesh grille or could i spray paint some mesh from lowes

Just got a red rubicon and for one of my first modifications i wanted to add a black mesh grille but was wondering if i had to get the rugged ridge one or just get some mesh from
Home depot for much cheaper.

Ha if you can do it yourself, I'd say do it and save the dough for other mods.

Btw I have RR grill inserts. They are built pretty well and fit like a glove. I'd like to see what you come up with, post some photos if you get a chance.

I did mine with mesh, it turns out pretty good, but I bought some perferated steel to re-do it with, shows any color you use a lot better and no chance.of anything ripping through

I like the idea of perforated steel. Where did you get it from?

I bought mine from a local shop that makes it. I ended up having to buy a whole 10' x 4' sheet though but sold the extra to some friends to cover the cost. After I cleaned it up real good to get all the oils off of it, I used self-etching primer and then silver paint over that. It's been over a year now and it's held up good.

^^^^looks good!^^^

I used the metal gutter guard from Lowes. I will probably redo it with something better from a metal fab shop when I get time, but it has held up good for almost a year now.

It was silver. Just primed and painted black with high temp spray paint.
