Do I really need 513's?
ok, big debate when it comes down to actually spending the money.....
I want 513's and have heard good things about the outcome compared to the 373's that I have now.
Does it really make that much of a difference in the power for around the town driving.... I will have to buy a flash paq as well if I do this to change the gear ratio in the computer.....
Wish I knew someone near by who has done this so I could drive it to feel the diff.
any opinions would be appreciated.

FWIW, running one of the Superchips Performance Tunes ('87') changed the shift points on my automatic, giving it enough additional power that I'm happy running 35 with my stock gears. I will eventually regear, but mostly for mileage reasons.
Hi Ryan,
I am having the same debate....
I actually bought 5.13s in January of this year. Business got slow, and I decided not to spend the money on the install.
In July I decided I would bite the bullet. I knew who I wanted to have install the gears... he's done work for me, although not on the JK. I had the work scheduled for the week before my vacation. Long story short, he let me down. I dropped the JK off on Monday and then called Wednesday morning. He hadn't even started. He said he would get right on it... but by Thursday afternoon there was no progress. He said he could do it in a day; but, I got gun-shy and picked the JK up. I drove the JK on trails and mountain roads in Southern Colorado without any problems. I would have been listening for any noise or vibration had I had the gears replaced because of the whole installation fiasco.
I still have the gears, and eventually I would like to have the install done; but, I just don't know how to justify the expense at this time because the 4.10s and 35s (in an automatic) really aren't that bad. (Maybe not the best; but, certainly driveable.) The same can't be said about towing the JK on a utility trailer through the Colorado mountains with a Suburban (5.3L)... that was a miserable experience that resulted in changing destinations.
Good luck with your decision. If I were more confident of the installer, and I had the cash in hand, I would probably go for the re-gear. Now just doesn't seem to be the time.

82% of percentages are made up. Most of those of us who have larger than factory tires actually report a MPG increase after a regear, when driven correctly. Many post/threads about this. Planman is right on target with this one (and many others).
