Personally I would go with the lighter-duty U-joint to ensure that it's the fuse (the first thing that breaks). A heavier duty DS will shift the next weak point in the chain to the yoke, pinion, axleshaft etc. U-joints aren't all that hard to swap out on the trail.

No. The 1310 replacment shafts have the same size tubes as the 1350's. Different yokes though (of course).

That's what I had planned. You can buy front and rear 1310's for about $700-$750. F/R 1350's are about $1000-$1100 I think.

I'll buy a few spare U-joints.

If I go with the 1310s Front and Rear, are the U joints interchangeable? Can you keep one spare with you for each (2D=no room)

Should be able to. A 1310's a 1310, as far as I know.
