I feel like there should be a "like" button, like there is on facebook so if I like a comment made I can voice my approval without quoting and posting.

Edit: I used "Like" 4 times in that comment. Does anyone like that?

A lot of manufacturers make parts overseas and are quality parts. A failure is a failure.

I will remove myself from the debate and agree to disagree.
You are the one who came on here completely misrepresenting the contents of Woods' letter and completely misrepresenting the circumstances surrounding WOL's decision not to allow Woods to be a sponsor. You are correct about one thing, however, a failure is a failure and guess what...you failed. The manufacturers of the universal joints recommended by WOL, most driveline shops, and many, many other people are NOT even sponsors of this site so your statements don't even make sense.

there's no debate here and you were wrong to come on here shooting off your mouth with only one side of the story as your proof of truth. i posted up everything for everyone to see and whether you choose to believe it is entirely up to you.[/QUOTE]

I first replied recommending a shaft. You replied commenting on a U joint. Your right, it is up to me. and my experiences, just as it is to you. Yes, you have hard core trails, but so does every other state. Even Indiana. In fact W.E Rock is held at the Badlands.

If I learn that joints Tom supplies with my shaft are made in China and I in fact have a failure, I will admit I am wrong. Can you do the same? I have not had any failures and will be at the Badlands this coming weekend.

That's my .002 cents. Take it or leave it.
I agree 100%.

There are plenty of small driveshaft shops around that build quality products... people tend to gravitate to name brands. I can think of four shops in my area that have excellent reputations and can build a driveshaft that withstand 1000 HP. You'd be surprised where good fabrication talent is... sometimes hidden in a small unknown industrial complex. Some are old farts that appear to be on their last leg ...

Some of these guys keep their businesses small for a very good reason..

I use Jeep Speed shafts... couldn't tell you who made them.

I'll admit - I've built a friendship with Tom, I forwarded this thread to Tom. He replied with this:

1. I have been a bit cautious about revealing all my sources. This is simply good business practice. I cannot think of any manufacturer who reveals, exactly which company makes their products, in a public forum. There are trade secrets in any business that need to be maintained for competitive reasons. If you look carefully in the letter though, you will see that all the universal joints we use are manufactured by Spicer, Neapco or one of their affiliated/source company

fair enough. however, sharkey does know the whole truth and now you have access to it too. IF, you choose not to read it in its entirety, i'd still have to say that it is you who is the dumb ass.

I first replied recommending a shaft. You replied commenting on a U joint.
oh please. while your first post was harmless enough, it was your 2nd lame ass commentary to bbrown626 about how it "proves you repeat what you read not what you know" that got you sticking your foot in your mouth. since you seem to have forgotten, it was that 2nd comment that i replied to because you were being such a hypocrite.

what can i say, you're a badass with a badass driveshaft and with golden good u-joints too. you're the man with all the facts, the truth and all the anwers. me, what do i know. i just hang out at the mall.

If I learn that joints Tom supplies with my shaft are made in China and I in fact have a failure, I will admit I am wrong. Can you do the same? I have not had any failures and will be at the Badlands this coming weekend.
So ask him for a straight yes or no answer whether or not his u-joints are made in china. Not that it really matter anymore since we've moved on to "quality" being the main factor. From my expereince, some are better and some aren't. As far as failures go, I'm gonna be honest and tell you that I hope that you're one of the lucky ones and don't experience one. There's nothing worse than being "that guy", broken down and holding everyone up with miles to go and I wouldn't want to wish that on you. I hope you have fun.

I've got Coast with spicer that have had to be replaced but it wasn't because of poor quality or Country of Origin it was because the DS angle was bad and wore through it faster than it should have. For the record our local Driveline shop only uses spicer and said the same thing about chitty Chinese u-joints!

Yes Frank I agree the driveshaft angle is very important. It was my oversight to not mention that.
