dumb flat towing question
Getting ready to put down some cash to order a JK. Would like to get an auto trans. Will be flat towing behind a motorhome. I'm assuming tranfercase to neutral and I should be good to go.
Anybody have any suggestions on a bumper / towbar combo that is available?

This is being made by Currie Enterprises, works with the factory front bumper and should be available soon if not already

There are a few threads that cover this pretty well. Search around.
Quik answer is yes, auto will tow flat with transfer case in nuetral and steering wheel released. Check owners manual for exact procedures once you get it.
I am using the Blue Ox baseplate because I already had a Blue Ox tow bar. At least I can tell you that they are shiping and look pretty good. I was scared at first because of some of the pictures posted here, but it came out nice. There is only about a half inch between the bumper and the tabs that stick out, can't get much closer than that.
Good luck.

I have the same plan for flat towing my ordered Rubi. I called Pure Jeep Products and spoke to a tech. He said that the shackle mounts for the D rings on their front bumper were the best place to mount a tow bar. A little fabrication was needed for a new baseplate to marry the tow bar to the shackle mount location. Perhaps a two tab bracket to run a thru bolt to attach the tow bar.
On the Warn bumper a tow bar was not recommended but they also have the D ring shackle mounts.
I checked with my Jeep parts department for a Mopar tow bar but they couldn't find one in their catalog nor had seen one in ten years.
