You only have to cut one wire, then strip it, and crimp/solder in your additional switch and that's it. It only take 15 minutes or so. Easy mod to do.

If anyone out there can find that thread please post the link here

I HAVE NOT done the switch mod. I havent cut ANY wires.

What i am saying is that in 2wd if I press my stock "ESP" disable button a light on the dash come on with swirlly marks under a vehicle. I can then slam on the gas and spin my tires on the street in a turn of course (drift). And in the mud I can take it all the way through the rpm/speedometer range and it lets me throw mud everywhere.

If I press the stock "esp" button again the light on the dash goes out. Then I can NOT break free at all, it just bogs down in the mud.

In 4WD Hi I then have the ability to press it once and do the same as 2WD.

In 4WD 4:1 Lo range everything is shut off (standard for all of us)

SO what I am saying is for some reason my Jeep was programmed to allow the Jeep to disable traction control and other electronic features without doing the steering wheel "dance".

I have a 6 speed manual, rubicon. Some have stated this is how theres is but it kills it over 40 mph in 2WD then the esp turns back on. Mine does not. I can spin throug the entire range of rpms. I think its due to it being a particular flash for my Jeep and it being a manual.

What I was saying before is that I will try and get the version of flash I have to pass it on here. It appears the easiest way though is to hack the wires and throw a switch on the dash.

It's probably elsewhere, but under the console is a big bunch of wires running from the front to the back on the driver's side of the e-brake handle. Inside of this bundle are two purple wires with LIGHT blue stripes. One is wound with a white wire. That's NOT the one you want. There is another one running alongside it that is purple with a DARK blue stripe. You want the one with the LIGHT blue stripe that's not wound with the white wire. I turned on the Jeep when I cut the purple and light blue stripe wire just to be sure and the lights came right on. Then splice in some extra wire and add your toggle. Sorry about the lack of picts, but it's buttoned back together and I'm not yanking the console again if I can help it.

It must have something to do with the auto vs manual.

My light comes on when I hit the button but it is still doing something. I cant not spin the tires or slide the Jeep in 2WD.

Mine is the same as yours, "off is off" by the switch in the dash at any speed, any rpm, and gear. Manf. date 03/08 6 spd.

I'm guessing it does have to do with the auto/man trans cause my automatic doesn't shut off completely
