so you are telling me when you put your vehicle in 4h or 4l and hold the esp button for 7 seconds your esp does not completelly shut down. Have you tested it in the mud trail like spinning the wheels or kind of drifting?

I have an 07, and I cut the wire and added the switch....and I love it.....I wish I would have done this earlier.

When you are driving, just hit the switch and it disables the ESP/ABS/Traction Control. Then you can play/powerslide/drift/do donuts etc......this cancels the functions completely until you shut off your vehicle and restart it. As long as you keep the added switch in the off position(disable mode), the function stays disabled whether you change to 2wd or 4wd. If you want to go back to OEM functionality, you just reset your switch to the on position (OEM mode) and restart your vehicle. If you leave the added switch in the off position (disable mode), it keeps the ESP/ABS/Traction Control off even when you restart your vehicle.

I only encourage everyone to use this feature for off road driving, as the OEM functions are there to save your A$$ (most of the time not all, as there are exceptions) while on road.

Prior to adding the Disable toggle switch to my rig, I could only disable the traction control fully while in 4wd Low. ....and when you hit it once (the side ways skiding vehicle light in dash) it only partially disables it.

I installed the switch, in a concealed area up above the pedals, in order to keep the dealers from wondering what it does. If I want to use it, I reach reach down and flick it to the off position. I also added the black accordian plastic covering to the wires in the right of the picture, it conceals the addition of the Toggle switch wires, and look better than exposed wires.

I have only tried drifting it in 2wd. I was messing around out in the snow in 2wd and hit the esp button off. It still wouldnt let me spin em. Ill try in 4wd tomorrow.

What switch are you talking about....the OEM traction control switch? or the aftermarket switch like what I did?

If you are just using the OEM switch the following happens:

-hit it once - you only partially disable the traction control...
-hold it for about 7 seconds and it diables the traction completely, but only in 4wd, and I think only in 4wdLow..this is the standard function for all year JKs.

If you hit the traction control button while in 2wd, it disables it partially, you can still drift somewhat, as the brakes try to straighten you out, but you have to floor it (power through it) in order to still play, but it is frustrating because you cannot drift for long stretches or even do a nice donut.

yours will only work in 4h or 4l not in 2h.

The extra toggle switch will let you do drifiting in 2h also.

I know what you mean, I was very hesitant about which wire to cut as well. I got the instructions off another thread here on how to do it, but I tried to find it again recently and I could not (not sure if someone removed it) I copied it and printed it off, so I can forward it if you want it. You only have to cut one wire, then strip it, and crimp/solder in your additional switch and that's it. It only take 15 minutes or so. Easy mod to do.

If anyone out there can find that thread please post the link here
