Agreed, ESP is a great feature that I don't want to lose just because I have a small lift and larger tires. It is also a bad idea to just disable since there is some underlying cause for the issue. Hopefully the dealer reflash this afternoon will help resolve. I will post the results.

It doesn't happen all the time, and seems to happen less now that I have re-centered. I am taking it to the dealer to reflash for the larger tire size to see if that helps. Please stop giving feedback to slow down (I am 35 years old and am over my speeding days). I am working through a legitimate issue that others here have had after adding larger tires and a lift.
my understanding, the dealer will not be able to flash you because of your 35's. nothing over 32. if they will do, thats great, none of the dealers where im at would. thats why aftermarket programers came out. did u ever flash the computer after the bigger tires were put on, if you didnt, the IMO that is the problem. the computer goes all crazy on ya. im running 37's and the computer coudltn even shift transmission correctly untill i programed it for the bigger tire.

Agree with those that said this is not normal...30K with the lift/tires on mine with no weird behavior at all. Twice it was upset (beep/error light - not spurious activation) over the steering being off center - once after driving all day through Kansas with a 50mph crosswind and the wheel jacked against it, the other after the Golden Crack from the Rusty Nail side...surprised I didn't break something as hard as I was cranking it. After Moab 1 turn on the drag link adjuster centered her right up. Drove for about 10 miles before the light cleared, but did not require anything more than that.

This is exactly what the dealer said today. They increased the stock setting to the largest tire available 275/70/18 on the computer. What do you mean flash the computer? They connected the starscan device and tried to adjust the tire size. I have a manual transmission so no shift point issues.

Default ESP Disable

1. turn jeep on
2. set to 4hi
3. set parking brake
4. make sure steering wheel is centered
5. turn wheel to the right, 180 degrees, JEEP logo should be upside down at this point - hold ESP off button for 7 seconds, you may hear a chime at 5 seconds(and ESP OFF may show up on the speedo), but keep holding for 7 seconds!!!!
6. Turn wheel back to center then left 180 degrees, JEEP logo should be upside down at this point - hold ESP off button for 7 seconds, again, hold for 7 seconds!!!
7. turn back to center, and hold ESP for 7 seconds.
8. Turn Jeep off

Is this only for 08+ JK's or does this apply to 2007 models as well?
I've tried this before with no luck (I have a 2007).
Any info is appreciated.

flashing the computer is same thing for reprogram. i dont know anything about the manual transmission since mine is auto. but i would think you still need to reprogram for tire size to get correct speedometer and mileage. other than that, im not sure. i would keep asking on here and maybe someone else can chime in. by all means, i am no expert, but for my jeep, the problems including esp were corrected after using the programer.

a programer is also needed if you ever regear, so might be worth investing in anyways. there are many threads on the programers. i used the hypertech

Had this happen for the first time today on a turn I take every single morning. The exit is a long sweeping 270* right turn marked at 40mph, which I usually take it at 40, if not 45 every day without incident. Thankfully all that happened was the light flashed and the ABS kicked in slighty. Felt more like the engine bogging than anything else.

The only changes I've made in the past week is recentering the wheel due to the bolts on the RC dual stabilizer hitting the drivers side stabilizer, less than a 1/4 turn - which actually straighened out the wheel more so than before; and a reprogram of my flashpack to the mileage XS tune.

Prior to the centering last week, the wheel was cocked slightly left of center (11:30). Now that it's dead on, I'm thinking that when I turn right, the ESP thinks that the truck is *really* turning right and therefore kicking it in.

If it happens again, I'll aligned my steering wheel back to left of center slightly.

Actually rather than un-centering your steering wheel the easier (and wiser) solution is to simply push the ESP button and turn off the system or............... slow down.

Guys go to project jk and look at the tsb recall section. Scroll down and there will be a section for flashing the esp. Some dealers do not know about this so print that page off and take it to the dealers. That is what I had to do. The dealers probably will charge something yo do this. They also might have to order the program to do this. This is a problem so all the guys telling you to slow down don't know about the issue. Hope I helped
